Fee Agreed: Tottenham reach ‘agreement’ with club over the transfer of world class midfielder, ‘structure of the deal’ yet to be finalised

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur appears to be on the verge of completing the signing of Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma, with the clubs having agreed on a transfer fee.

According to reports, Zaniolo is the number one target for Spurs and has been a long-time favorite of manager Antonio Conte.

However, there were concerns about whether the transfer would actually take place, but 90min suggests that one of the biggest obstacles has been overcome with Roma and Spurs in ‘agreement’ on the transfer fee.

As per the report, the remaining hurdle is the ‘structure of the deal’, with both clubs still in discussions over the terms of the obligation to buy.

Currently, Spurs plan to take Zaniolo on loan, with the option to buy if they reach the top four.

However, Roma wants the transfer to be mandatory regardless of the team’s top four finish at the end of the season. Despite these differences, it seems that the deal is likely to go through..

He was convinced to stay in Rome over the summer despite being heavily linked with Spurs, but after falling down the pecking order at the Italian club this season, Tottenham now appears to be close to finally getting their man.

The addition of Zaniolo could help the team improve and increase their chances of reaching the top four, where they are currently fighting for a spot.

The attacking midfielder described as ‘frightening’ is considered a highly-talented player who could make a significant impact on the Spurs team who have hugely missed a creative midfielder in their team.
