I see the “Free Dele” campaign in the media really has done a number on some posters.
So many people seem to think Mourinho has some sort of irrational grudge towards Dele. He doesn’t. With the team performing as it has been, there is NO reason why Dele shouldn’t play, if he’s putting in the work and is as good as most pundits (and many fans) seem to think he is. But he isn’t.
If Bergwijn is selected ahead of you, what more proof do you need that hard work is what’s required? He never scores and rarely assists, but he never stops running and trying to be there defensively and offensively – you know, impacting the game whether he has that one goalscoring moment.
Mourinho told Dele he had to work hard several times just over the course of the Amazon documentary, and he also discussed the issue with Levy on camera – but maybe that was all just for the cameras, and behind the scenes, Dele works like Kane?
Dele was one of our most prized assets (much like Tanguy is now) – so why do you think one has worked out under Jose and the other hasn’t? “Oh but Levy wouldn’t let Jose sell Tanguy, so he HAD to make it work!” No. Both were top talents with problems, but Tanguy chose to address them and do what the manager wanted him to, while Dele opened his IG account to like a post by Merson saying “Dele has to play” while eating a chocolate bar.
One is arguably our best player and the other will probably be shunted off to watch Mbappé and Neymar from PSG’s bench in the summer.
Stop calling for him. If he convinces Jose in training, he will play; if he doesn’t, he won’t. There’s nothing more to it.
Dele is creative but undisciplined. Jose is looking to instill a diligence in the team, especially defensively, so he needs disciplined players willing to buy in to the system. It’s not that Dele doesn’t track back, he does, most of the time. It’s just that he’s not where he’s supposed to be on the pitch, and that throws the whole system off. I do not get it HH who in your opinion was playing better than Ali except Ndombele in the team that played against Brighton? I did not see in that game any player who I can say was playing better than Ali except Ndombele if Ali was in the field, I think is to do Mourinho’s habit of singelen out a player and throws under the bus in any team he has been ie Casillas, Pogba, Arjen Robben, De Bruyn Salah Pogba, Luke shaw etc and now is Ali before Ali was Ndombele but Levi saved him I guess that is my opinion I don’t believe Ali is the worst player in Tottenham’s payroll that is my opinion and I could be wrong who knows cheers.
And how do you want to line up sir? Well we could go with a back-3, back-4 or maybe back-5 with wing-backs, nah, lets go with a back-7, it wont be pretty, but we will get results. (TM calls it 3-4-3 flach!)
Liverpool you say, lets leave out one of the best centre backs in football and put in Joe Rodon, he trains well. “Good idea sir”, and left wing back? Doherty of course, it’s Liverpool. Oh, 1 goal down, what do we do, we must get back in the game? Yes, let us put on Harry Winks, one of our main dangermen.
Brighton you say? “yes they are 17th and have not won at home this season”. Okay lets go out with 7 defensive players to begin with, Toby trained well this week so should be in, and let’s break them on the counter, we are good at that.
We should not be over-optimistic or courageous, it’s the Albion, they will come on us heavy, lets soak up their pressure, and counter, the boys will love that. What about Sissoko, he trained well this week? yes indeed, let him have the right back spot, will be good for him.
i have no problem with Mourinho except he is doing what he did to Utd. also, and currently we/the team are not responding well. could change, but honestly, putting Winks on against liverpool 0-1 down, come on. Against Brigton every fibre of every player did not want to be there.

To me all of this is largely irrelevant. The media want a soap opera so this will become it, along with Bale’s situation.
if Jose doesn’t want to pick him that’s fine. Demanding that he’s reinstated as our number 10 will achieve nothing.
The crux of this is that the manager makes the decisions, he’s going with his own set of criteria and tactics.The key point is just how far these things are actually going to take the team. The season is still alive but personally I see top 4 and even finishing above Woolwich as seriously under question. Is that good enough or not?

Bergy would make a good wing back. He’s surprisingly clean in the tackle.
Sadly I believe it’s entirely in the hands of Deli and only Deli. He must prove to fans as well as the manager that he really want to play. So far he looks like a teenage sulk.
“We’ve seen enough of Bergwijn” – who’s been here for a year coming from the Dutch league where nobody defends, having to adapt to a new country, new culture, language and style of football, playing 28 games.
“Give Dele a proper chance” – who’s played regularly in England since 2013 and has been with Spurs since 15/16, playing 160 games.

Bergwjn has had plenty of time but has failed to impress. He looks a mid table PL player at best. Which is the sort Levy likes buying because they’re cheaper. Give Dele a proper chance, he can’t be any worse.
