Tottenham have been handed a positive update in their pursuit of Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, as highlighted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
With the January transfer window in the final hours, Spurs are intensifying efforts to secure defensive reinforcements following a spate of injuries that have left their backline stretched thin.
The recent long-term knee injury to key centre-back Radu Dragusin has only heightened the urgency.
Disasi has emerged as a top target for Tottenham, and while both clubs reportedly agreed on a loan deal, the Frenchman initially showed a preference for joining Aston Villa. However, Romano’s latest update brings renewed optimism for Spurs.

Disasi, who is valued at €30 million and contracted to Chelsea until 2029, boasts an impressive career trajectory. He began at Paris FC before moving to Reims, where his performances caught the eye of Monaco. In 2020, he made a €13 million switch to the principality club, where he established himself as a crucial figure.
In August 2023, the 26-year-old defender joined Chelsea on a six-year contract for £38.5 million. He made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut against Liverpool in a 1-1 draw.
This season, Disasi has featured in 17 matches across all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists. While primarily a backup in Premier League fixtures, he has been a regular in Chelsea’s European and domestic cup outings.
Tottenham will be hoping that Disasi opts for a move to North London, where his arrival would provide a much-needed boost to Ange Postecoglou’s defensive lineup. With the transfer window closing soon, Spurs fans eagerly await the Frenchman’s decision.
