“I see Tottenham…”, “they are considering…” – Fabrizio Romano reveals exciting Spurs transfer plans for the summer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham clinched a 5th-place finish in the Premier League, securing a spot in the Europa League in Ange Postecoglou’s first season with the club.

The Australian manager, however, has loftier ambitions for next season, having narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot by just 2 points.

Postecoglou has made it clear that he wants Tottenham to be in the mix for the Premier League title. Achieving this goal will require significant changes over the summer, as Spurs prepare for a crucial transfer window with plans to overhaul the squad.

According to the latest from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Lilywhites are gearing up to be highly active in the market, with the possibility of welcoming up to five new players.

Tottenham’s form towards the conclusion of last season was underwhelming, highlighting the need for substantial changes.

Postecoglou is determined to revamp the squad, aiming to raise the team’s quality for the next campaign.

Romano: Tottenham to have a busy transfer window

In his discussion on The Debrief, Romano emphasised Spurs’ ambitious plans. The Italian journalist noted that the club is actively considering signing a centre-forward and a winger among others, suggesting an intent to bolster their squad.

While avoiding explicit mentions of specific players, Romano hinted at the prospect of Tottenham securing multiple signings across different positions.

He said:

“They’re looking at different options as a centre striker or as a winger. I expect Tottenham to be really busy. I don’t want to throw out like six or seven names, but they are considering several players and several positions.

“I see Tottenham being really busy, I think it could be four or five signings this summer for Spurs.”

Bringing in up to five new players could effectively reshape almost half of the starting XI, addressing areas that require improvement.

Although signing multiple players in a single transfer window poses challenges, Tottenham must align with Postecoglou’s competitive ambitions.

It is also reported that the club will be letting go of at least 12 players this summer, funds from which will also be used for the incoming transfers.
