Fabio Paratici ‘has given the green light’ for World Cup star after Conte ‘registered interest’ in him

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister following his impressive performances for World Cup finalists Argentina.

The 23-year-old was inserted into Argentina’s starting lineup following their opening loss to Saudi Arabia, and he has done well enough to keep his spot in the squad as the World Cup final approaches.

And Mac Allister has built on his excellent Premier League form this season with a series of impressive World Cup performances becoming one of the key players in the midfield for the finalists.

According to the Sun, Spurs are now interested in signing the Brighton star and will be competing against four other clubs for his signature.

Fabio Paratici is said to have been impressed by what he saw from the midfielder in Qatar and has ‘given the green light’ after Antonio Conte ‘registered interest‘ in him.

However, signing him will not be easy for Spurs as he is under contract with Brighton until 2025 and they will not be in any hurry to sell him.

Meanwhile, the report also mentions that Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are all interested in signing him as well.

Number of recent reports including The Times have reported that Conte is looking to add a defender, midfielder and a striker in the January transfer window.

Conte would want sufficient squad depth going into the second half the season which will be piled up with fixtures as the domestic leagues make up on the games lost during the World Cup.

Other midfielders linked with Spurs include Juventus’ American ace Weston Mckennie and Leandro Paredes.
