Expert claims 44-year-old manager might turn down the Tottenham job for ‘selfish’ reason

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has emerged as one of the contenders for the vacant managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur following the sacking of Antonio Conte last month.

The North London club parted ways with Conte after his scathing criticism of his players and the club’s lack of ambition following a draw against Southampton.

Slot, who has been making waves in the Dutch league with Feyenoord, has attracted attention for his remarkable job at the helm of the Rotterdam-based club.

Feyenoord is currently on track to potentially win the league title, having lost only one game throughout the season. His impressive managerial skills has caught the attention of Tottenham’s hierarchy, and he has been listed among other high-profile names such as Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino, Vincent Kompany, Ruben Amorim, and Brendan Rodgers, who are also linked with the Tottenham job.

ESPN Netherlands’ Kenneth Perez a Dutch football expert, has been vocal in his support for Slot to make the move to Tottenham.

Perez has praised Slot’s impact at Feyenoord, stating that the club would be better off investing in the manager rather than splurging on new players.

Despite Slot expressing concerns about uprooting his children from their current schooling, Perez believes that a move to Tottenham would be a compelling opportunity for the 44-year-old manager.

He said (via FR12.NL):

”This trainer (Slot) has made the whole difference at Feyenoord. As a policymaker at Feyenoord, I would rather spend €10-15m on three years of Slot than invest it in three or four new players. In fact, you should give him a blank cheque.

“If I were Slot, and Tottenham came along, I would go to Tottenham. But Slot has dropped that a departure would not be very convenient because of his children, who are in secondary school. That also says something about him. Maybe selfish, but if I could go to Tottenham, then we could also find a solution for the children.”

Tottenham fans are eagerly anticipating the appointment of a new manager who can bring stability and success to the club. With a string of disappointing results and lackluster performances, the pressure is on for chairman Daniel Levy to make the right choice.
