The mood at the stadium development (the one that was going to be finished and open last September) has been described to me as frighteningly similar to that when a certain German was ranting and raving in a certain Berlin bunker at the end of the Second World War.
A source close to the club tells the Harry Hotspur blog that the whole fire panel fiasco shows no sign of abating. One of the most crucial aspects and it has been treated with distain – you know – like a football club not really bothering to have enough good players.
The complexity of the mess that is the safety systems isn’t going to be conveyed well by me, my eyes had glazed over literally seconds into the explanation I received yesterday.
Suffice to say, the bottom line is that the whole thing has been a unmitigated disaster that could have been easily averted had more care been taken. Less haste, more speed.
This blog has been quick to mock – the allegations of drugs and booze on site – the bloke that skydived off the roof. But the reality is that these ‘issues’ were just symptomatic of very poor management.
Add to this a recurring undercurrent of interference of #TeamLevy. Not only are the Levy’s brilliant audio equipment buyers, but they are also fabulous interior design experts.
It was suggested to me that the whole sorry self inflicted situation became beyond parody months ago; the construction world now feels as warmly towards Daniel as the football one.
My one hope is that the whole experience has been so traumatic and gruelling for our glorious leader that after a suitable period of reflection, he’ll do the right thing and agree to sell.
One book that would literally be a pager turner!
Wouldn’t we all like to see the books! The Six Million Pounds a year Cock-up Merchant!
The next update is probably being saved for the day after a big CL or derby win.
Not to mention NFL thing. Lewis will want stadium share too so he can own an NFL team. This will not go well.
He’s blown far more money than was ever needed and it still isn’t open.
We lose money now with every Wembley game.
The debt is gently spiralling.
I’d love to see the books.
Mike Ashley will snap us up.as soon as the administration begins
And apart from the price and debt, we’re forgetting one other expensive item.
Anybody mad enough to buy would obviously want and need a team genuinely capable of winning the league so add on a further 200-300 million for players
I believe that it is presently unsellable.
Would be nice if he sold… but to who? Considering debt and investment needed, plus ENIC money grab, the buyer would need to be thinking over £2bln possibly even £3bln. Honestly i doubt we are worth it. If this were a house extension we would have gone over the ceiling of our area and now be in negative equity. So either someone needs to buy us for more than we are worth or ENIc must make a loss.
‘Take a chill pill’
Take a free ride off this blog.
I don’t think anybody has claimed there is a £1B debt. That is the most commonly cited estimate of how much the stadium has cost, so far. A third of that cost at most seems to have been paid off, thanks to a decade-long stay at the bottom of the net investment table and to 3 years’ CL and 2nd/3rd place PL money, earned by poch and the players.
But there are still outstanding bank loans totalling £637M (sans interest). That figure is very much in the public realm and has been disputed by nobody. That debt is Levy’s mess. Care to hazard a guess as to how long that debt will take to clear?
All true, but sickingly, the quoted £100 millions TV money and our pockets will substantially reduce the debt but not, of course, the sell on fee. COYSAFOL! (ComeOn YouSpursAnd F*%kOffLevy!)
Seriously you think things are alright?
The reason we didn’t invest in players is almost certainly down to the cost of the stadium. The delays in finishing this project, which is certainly enriching the levy clan have further exacebated the problem.
If you don’t think we could have improved our squad I suggest you look at the team we put out at palace last week when due to injuries and fatigue we were left desolate.
Why were we not interested in brooks and Maddison over the summer the best young English potential talent. We’d never pay the money for zaha who I think could play with or instead of Harry when he’s injured.
The issue with salaries being less than the competition is about to bite the club on the arse when Toby and Christian look for parity for their talent. The only salary where we are competitive where we pay that bald dwarf 6million per annum for his undoubted talent.
Things would be more bearable if the club didn’t charge the highest ticket prices which only rubs salt into the wound.
If you are waiting for next year for investment good luck with that we’ve being waiting 18 years for levy to enic to invest in the club.
You are right that Lewis has the power. Problem is he is a big a cunt as levy
Very straightforward solution.
Next to ALL listings on NewsNow exists an easy to use ‘hide/highlight’ publication.
Good luck trying to shut down the Daily Mail, the country’s largest publication.
By the way, when the police come to your house and ask you about ‘those’ images you’ve downloaded, who will you blame then?
Exercise some self control.
On past evidence, anybody saying it won’t happen is on pretty safe ground.
Are you trying to say there are no players out there who would be an improvement on Aurier,Dier,Sissoko,Davies and Nocludo to name a few?
Two consequetive windows with no incomings is a joke.I honestly think no other clubs want anything to do with negotiations involving Levy.Yes huge credit to Poch for getting us punching well above our weight and to within 2 points of City, but our small squad is being run into the ground.
Is there anyway you can remove yourself from newsnow? Every now and again I’ll see a headline like ‘expect stadium delays’ and click on it. Then remember it’s this blog. My fault I know, but it really would help me out old chap.
I’ve written a similar note to the daily mail and the leavemeansleave website.
Muchas Gracias pussycat.
Reports say that 1st game to be palace or Brighton. Are you saying this won’t happen ?
Lewis is the one with the power not Levy!!
I’m not Levy’s biggest fan but
£1B debt?? Where ? The accounts do not state that! Are Spurs lieing about the accounts? I doubt that.
On the Football side of things it’s our best start ever! Like ever lol
So there is no argument!
Yes we could go that extra mile with 2/3 extra top quality players but where are they? We are nearly £100m down of Woolwich regarding salaries
Liverpool £120m more than us on salaries
Arabs and the Mancs along with chavs are in a different solar system when it comes to paying players!!
Who is out there that is better than the players we have already??
You can’t force clubs to shift there quality to us mid season!!
If we have to wait until next season to be back home so be it!!
Take a chill pill
Love your blog H especially your values regarding social issues but perk up man!!
We’re third with a bucket load of injuries this season!!
Onwards and upwards
TO DARE IS TO DO😉
ENIC paid approximately £30 million for their stake and THFC have debts of approximately £1 billion. They are greedy and will ask at least £2bill if not more. There are several clubs for sale in the Premier League at the moment which include Crystal Palace, Newcastle(almost done I am reliably informed), and Chelsea. Levy is totally discredited in the world of football and business as a chief executive due to his stadium disaster and impotent transfer policies. The end is nigh for ENIC, it is only a matter of time.
A statement about the opening game is due to be made in the coming 7 days. The tantalising drip feed of information by Levy and the PR machine so far has been a deliberate ploy to postpone the inevitable decision that there will be no opening until next season.
Levy’s utter contempt for the fans’particularly those he fleeced for new season tickets,in the knowledge there would be no new opening, knows no bounds.I suspect he knows the jig is up now and to delay frther will probably mean the Premier League will refuse us permissiom to pay the few remaining games in the new toilet bowl.
Welcome to corporate property development.
lets face it, its obvious we are not going to play in the new WHL this season
Why Levy does not simply come clean and say the first game (and I mean football as we know it, not some strange Yanky palaver) in our new sport themed mall will be the first home game of the 2019/20 season ?
Then everybody would calm down and wait for August.
If any one looking for a good toe-curling laugh on a Saturday morning, have a gander at this :
