The Antwerp Arms hosted a celebratory party for Spurs supremo Daniel Levy this afternoon.
Speeches praising Levy’s tenure began in earnest a 1130am and were still going strong until a regular stood up and urinated over a joint chair of the Trust, who had fallen asleep over a Ludo board, at 1155am.
A local publican from a different venue told the Harry Hotspur blog, ‘Thank christ we don’t get those tossers in our gaff’…
Glad the old system is back up and the usual fine folk are predicting the future of our summer additions[or lack] correctly, finest of rants by Finn and mucho respect.
Still gets on my tits that i find myself every now and then looking on Spewsnow or sky for positive updates.
Did you know Joe has a Jet plan with the number plate G-THFC…..please sell up Levy and let someone else have a go ffs…
Only looking at our fixture list for the coming season, couple of early ones to worry about but looks like a quiet balanced season to me.
Our main problems have been –
Full backs with piss poor around games.
Finishing/creating
No squad or options beyond a first 9 (used to be 11 but we are now carrying there aswell)
With more 1st teamers looking to head out the door plus some aging and numerous injury prone players 4/5 ready to start players are needed just to stand still , and unless players coming in are of a higher standard which costs proper money then this still leaves us with the same problems and still no options or back up off the bench.
There is much to celebrate. As mentioned below, the 500-day landmark has now been reached since he last signed a senior player. It is also fast approaching 500 days since he “lost patience” with the specialists he’d contracted to search for a stadium sponsor and took “personal control” of the search himself. Little wonder many are already celebrating the big name players he will have secured by August 5.
Levy is spending 1M to enlarge the players lounge after complaints by their wags that it isn’t large enough. He could use the trophy room as well as we have no need for it.
Wicked summation of our situation by Finn below.Congratulations.
I think we all hoped, after last season’s CL final appearance that things would really kick on this summer. But reality sets in and you realise that nothing will change. This is dickhead we’re talking about here and he will not pay market prices.
Incidentally I checked out the Spurs’ players salaries for the 2018-9 season and you can understand the frustration of some of the group over their money.Lamela 105K/wk,Aurier 80K/wk,Eriksen 75K/wk,put in that context you can understand Eriksen’s beef.
Absolutely nailed it. Sad but true
Were they forbidden from using the cheese room?
The Supporters Trust oh dear: it has all the markings of a biblical metaphor; Levy being the golden calf worshipped by fawners, idolaters and the other old testament names generally reserved for and attributed to “wankers” – aka the “Trust” (or should that be truss given that they support a load of old bollocks).
Its easy to see why some will support a strong leader and Levy can be formidable, but sadly he has no sense of perspective and strikes me as one who will in the poring rain still be standing his ground (strongly), for what he thinks is right long after everyone else has gone home because its too wet.
I suspect he has assesses the book value of the players we might like and arrives at a figure he feels is correct. No doubt this will include the amount of other transfer fees for like players, the selling clubs valuation (less 35% – which is how HE puts a value on OUR players) plus the feedback from his team of sycophants who of course will reinforce his delusion.
That figure will be THE figure he’ll pay and no more; anything more will represent overpaying and he simply won’t do that!
So the impasse we see is on the one hand, the market is dynamic and affected by supply/demand, players and agents positioning, club positioning (some clubs have bought players purely to prevent them going to strengthen rivals) and the inflationary effect of TV money. On the other, is a man who resolutely refuses to allow these external factors to distract him from his god-given knowledge of what is THE right price – in other words a zealot.
Many years ago King Cnut (and yes that could be an anagram for Daniel), sat on a beach and commanded the waves to stop: he got his feet wet. But he was a wise man and was showing his legion of court flatterers that he was just a man and subject to the laws of nature like any other.
King Daniel on the other hand is not such a wise man – King Daniel “believes”.
He believes that we can make more Harry Kanes on demand, he believes that a stadium and training facilities will compensate for half market wages and he believes that the market will remain suspended for him, holding its breath while he prevaricates over the possibility of a better deal.
Can Poch machete away the strangling vines of Levy’s cupidity, persuade him that we are really only in the CL next year because ManU and the Goons worked just that little bit more effectively to fail than we did?
History suggests not – history suggests that the man will stick with what he knows, what he thinks is right and in the future kids will ask their fathers what that nameless stadium is; the fathers will reply, “ah son, they pop up all over England, its called a folly”.
So here we are again, looking at next season a year that could be so full of opportunity. The upheavals at Manu, the under performing Goons and now a Hazard and Sarri-less Cheatski could narrow this to a Top 3. With a few decent additions…… who knows.
But I suspect it will be King Daniel whispering, “once more unto the beach dear friends” – still more of a Cnut than a Henry V.
Poch signed a new deal last year if my memory serves me correctly. Having written that these deals are worthless when one wants to leave.
The transfer window opened on May 17th and closes on August 9th. The clubs first pre season fixture is 21st July. I guess any well managed football club would want new players training with the squad before then. Yet at the new shopping mall all is quiet and Pooch is bronzing somewhere. Tick tock tick tock we cannot but until we sell because Levy has the zero net spend mantra to deliver. Sell your best and reinvest in potential whilst trousering the difference. Looking forward to hearing that Pooch has signed a new enhanced deal tick tock tick tock
So my 6th Vietnamese adventure is coming to an end. Reality of a new job back in Australia looms.
What bothers me the most will be the time difference for Spurs games whilst trying to hold down a new job. Here’s hoping for early Saturday kickoffs every week.
There’s a military idiom along the lines of; slow is smooth, smooth is fast. It’s a widely applied technique for mastering many new things but oft applicable to weapons draw, target acquisition etc.
What similar style idiom can we say best describes Daniel Levy’s target acquisition?
Which one of those in the image is Donna again?
We all know Levy only buys players either off the radar, cheap or no one else wanted..therefore Ndombele and the las vegas guy is a smoke screen…he won’t have it in him to part with the money first…
Hello darkness my old friend, Daniel here to summon you again, because a vision that me and Joe will not afford, seems the only way to keep Pochettiono and the fans aboard, so please, please, please please help a geezer out or they’ll find out about the transfer silence.
Levy. Just fuck off. And all the people who wish to speak in the rats honour, you may join him in playing on the m25. Total and utter wanker
Was it really a year ago?? 3 mill and Ohnama for Grealish….
Bill Murray is our chairman.
lol. A wake would be more appropriate.
It’s now 500 days since we signed a senior player
Anyone who’s confused, offering 40 mill for a player with an 80 odd mill buyout clause is not ‘negotiation’.
It’s taking the piss and wasting everyone’s time.
