Even At 2-0 Up, José Mourinho Won’t Back Off [video]

By The Boy -

Here we see José Mourinho pulls apart his giddy players mid-celebration in order to push more instruction at Heung Son-Min.

It must be a considerable weight off of the Portuguese’s mind that he is now only communicating with players that want to be in his Tottenham side. The departure of Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen is bound to allow the gaffer to finally stamp his authority on the group and know that everyone is receptive.

This was an intensely disciplined performance from a Spurs side with considerable for losing concentration in the past. Manchester City were a tennis player delivering their best serves and José’s boys kept returning the ball, and denying the aces.

Jermaine Jenas told the BBC “He [Mourinho] could not trust his team to go out and score goals, especially when Harry Kane got injured, so instead he started setting them up not to be beaten”, which is a little less than generous given Spurs won courtesy of two superb strikes.

Man City didn’t bring their shooting boots, Spurs did. City got a peno and still couldn’t score and should be lambasted for for their profligacy but instead we’ve had to listen to disingenuous post match analysis about how lucky Spurs were and how well Man City played.
