Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old Argentine international has failed to hold down a regular starting spot at the North London club and he needs to move on if he wants to play regularly. Real Betis are keen on bringing him back to the club and they have been in constant contact with the player regarding a potential move.
According to reports via Sport Witness, Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini is an admirer of the Argentine international midfielder as well. However, his wages could be a problem. Lo Celso is on premium wages at Tottenham, and he might have to lower them in order to get the deal done.
Real Betis are currently working to unburden their wage bill and they are looking to sell some first-team players. The deal for Lo Celso is unlikely to be completed quickly and therefore it could drag on.
It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Tottenham will be hoping to get rid of the South American permanently. He is clearly not a starter for them, and he is not a key part of Ange Postecoglou’s first-team plans either.
It would be ideal for the two parties to go there separate ways. Tottenham could use the proceeds from his departure to bring in a new signing who will improve the squad. Meanwhile, the versatile Argentina midfielder would be able to get his career back on track with regular football in Spain.
He has played for Real Betis in the past and he knows the club well. He should be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact if the transfer goes through.
