Euro outfit dream of signing Tottenham ace, steps taken to sign 28-year-old

Tottenham outcast Giovani Lo Celso looks set to part ways with the club amidst interest from Real Betis.

Lo Celso has been surplus to requirements at Tottenham in the recent past. While his contract with the North London club runs until the summer of 2025, a move elsewhere in the upcoming transfer window looks very likely.

According to a report from Marca via SportWitness, Real Betis dream of bringing him back to the club in the summer and they have already taken steps to make it happen.

The Argentine attacking midfielder arrived at the English club in the summer of 2019 from Betis. He joined them on an initial loan deal which was made permanent the following summer. Unfortunately, the move hasn’t gone according to plan for either party.

The 28-year-old has failed to fire at the North London club and his time there could soon come to an end. Ange Postecoglou is planning a major rebuild in the summer, and Spurs will look to sell their fringe players.

Lo Celso who has had less than 600 minutes of first-team football throughout the season is one of them.

Real Betis are the ones keen on signing him. They want to bring him back to the club amidst uncertainty over the future of Nabil Fekir, who has cast doubts on his future at the club.

The report suggests that Real Betis have taken the first steps to secure Lo Celso’s services as a replacement for Fekir, if in case the latter does leave the club. Manuel Pellegrini’s team have been in contact with the Argentine midfielder and the club’s representatives were sent to London last month to meet Tottenham and find out the cost of the operation.

Meanwhile, they even met the player’s agent in Madrid as they look to push hard to get the transfer over the line.
