Euro outfit closing in on 24-year-old Tottenham utility man, transfer ‘being discussed right now’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 24-year-old has struggled for regular football at the London club and he needs to leave in order to play regularly this season.

Apparently, Bundesliga outfit Augsburg are now closing in on a deal to sign the 24-year-old defender.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the defender will join the German club on loan and Augsburg will have an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season. The deal is ‘being discussed right now’ and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can come to an agreement.

Tanganga needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and the move to Germany would be ideal for him. Regular football in the Bundesliga would help him regain his form and sharpness.

The 24-year-old was highly rated at the club a few seasons ago and he was expected to develop into a key player for Tottenham. Tanganga is versatile enough to operate as the right back as well as a central defender.

He could be a useful option for Augsburg this season and it remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running in German football.

The 24-year-old is unlikely to get many opportunities at Tottenham. Therefore, a loan move makes perfect sense for him as far as his development is concerned.
