Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with the move away from the north London club recently.
The 28-year-old has struggled for regular game time at the Premier League this season and he might need to leave in order to play more often. Italian giants Juventus are keen on securing his services and a report from Calciomercato claims that ‘contacts have taken place’ with the player’s agent regarding a potential transfer.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to sanction his departure in January. Earlier this season, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou described him as a ‘very important’ player.
Although he has not started for Tottenham regularly, he remains a seasoned Premier League midfielder who has been a key player for Tottenham over the years. The Denmark international is not a good fit for Postecoglou’s free-flowing attacking football and that is why he finds himself on the fringes of the first team.
However, there is no doubt that he can be a quality option to have for most clubs in the league.
Spurs must look to hold onto him until the end of the season. They will hope to secure Champions League qualification this season and they need a quality squad in order to finish the season strongly.
With players like Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr away on AFCON duty in the coming weeks, Hojbjerg could be an important performer for Tottenham.
