Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old Spanish left-back is not a key player for the North London club and he needs to leave in search of regular football. According to a report from Spanish publication AS, he had the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia recently, and Monaco tried to sign him during the closing stages of the January window.

Turkish outfits Galatasaray and Besiktas remain keen on securing his signature with the transfer window still open in Turkey. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to sanction his departure due to the lack of depth in the squad.

Spurs have had plenty of injury problems this season and it will be interesting to see whether they are ready to hold onto the 28-year-old until the summer transfer window. The player will be out of contract in June and he will be able to leave Tottenham on a free transfer. Selling him now would allow the club to recoup a nominal amount of money for him and save his wages for the remainder of the season as well.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tottenham already have players like Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie who can operate as the left-back. Djed Spence is capable of playing that role as well. It would be wise of the London club to sanction the departure of the Spanish International. The 28-year-old will be desperate for regular gametime and a move to Turkey could be ideal for him.

He has previously shown his quality in La Liga, and there is no doubt that he has the ability to succeed in Turkey. He will look to get his career back on track with regular football once again, and he will hope that Spurs sanction his departure soon.
