Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the London club in recent months.
He was linked with a number of clubs during the summer transfer window but the Danish international midfielder ended up staying.
A report from IlRomanista claims that the player is liked by several clubs including Roma.
Apparently, Jose Mourinho ‘admires’ the Tottenham midfielder ‘a lot’ and the player has a ‘special relationship’ with the Portuguese manager.
The 28-year-old played under Mourinho when he managed Tottenham and he had one of his best seasons under the Portuguese tactician.
Roma could certainly use a quality central midfielder like him and Hojbjerg would be an excellent addition for the Italian club.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to sell the midfielder during the January transfer window.
Ange Postecoglou has employed a free-flowing attacking approach at Tottenham this season, and there have been talks that Hojbjerg does not fit his system.
The 28-year-old Danish midfielder was more suited to Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho’s conservative approach. He was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid who play in a similar system earlier this summer as well.
Hojbjerg will want to play regularly at this stage of his career and moving away from Spurs would be ideal for all parties.
He is unlikely to be a regular starter for Postecoglou and Spurs should look to cash in on him and invest the proceeds in a player who is more suited to the new manager’s style of play
