‘I have so many questions’: Ex-Spurs star reflects on ‘disappointing’ remark and time under Ange

By Saikat -

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier joined Bayern Munich during the January transfer window and he has now opened up on his final few months at the club.

The 30-year-old defender struggled for regular game time under new manager Ange Postecoglou and Spurs eventually decided to let him leave on loan midway through the season.

During the January transfer window, the Australian manager revealed in a press conference that he is ready to let the England international leave the club, despite the injury problems in his defensive unit. Postecoglou was open to using players like Emerson Royal and Ben Davies as his central defenders instead of giving opportunities to Dier.

The defender has revealed in an interview with the Athletic that the comments from the Tottenham manager were disappointing, but he is not fully aware of the context in which they were made.

“I don’t like to say anything publicly if I haven’t said it to the person. It’s difficult to judge, I don’t know in what context he meant it. If he meant it in that way, it would be disappointing, purely because of the way I carried myself in my time there. I don’t know if he meant it that way or not.”

Dier went to explain that he has admiration for the Australian, despite not being able to win him over. The England international claims that he has multiple questions for the Tottenham manager, and he would like to sit down with him and have a chat in the near future.

“I have so many questions — about the way he does certain things and why he does them. Hopefully, one day, I’ll be able to.”
