The 2021-22 Premier League season is nearly here, and so are the predictions for what the new year holds for the clubs. Former Arsenal Paul Merson midfielder wrote a column for SportsKeeda where he discussed how the table would play out.
Merson, off the bat, states that Manchester City is going to win the Premier League this upcoming season and said the title would be a battle between three clubs; City, Manchester United, and Chelsea.
If those three clubs play for the league, they will also end up with the UEFA Champions League spots. Merson believes that Arsenal, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Everton will decide those among themselves when it comes to the remaining European positions.
After two seasons with Champions League football, Tottenham hopes to fight for one of those positions after finishing in seventh place last season. The summer window remains open, and there’s some time for Tottenham to continue improving their squad and perhaps surprise some pundits.
“Football reported in Englsh by pundit”. There you go. fix the headline. Who watch and listen to Mercer?
I’d take that, competing for a Europa league spot with the current squad is where we are at best at the moment.
Who cares what Merson thinks anyway.
I really do not know what to think about upcoming season……on the one hand as poor as we were last year, think we were only 7 points off a champions league place and by my reckoning we dropped at least 14 points from winning positions. So on the other hand if we can learn how to defend we could do surprisingly well.
Don’t know whether to listen to my heart or my head!!
Liverpool not taking part this year.
