€30m-rated Tottenham player’s exit could drag on towards the end of the window

Emerson Royal’s departure looks certain but a move might not happen until the very end of the transfer window.

The Brazilian international doesn’t seem to be an important part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans moving ahead. While there is interest in his services from AC Milan, Emerson Royal’s potential departure from Tottenham could drag on until the end of the window according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness.

Emerson arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2021 on the back of a failed Barcelona move. While he was an important part of Spurs’ first team in the initial years, he has gone down the pecking order since the arrival of the Australian manager.

In the recently concluded season, the former Real Betis full-back featured in a total of 24 matches and racked up just over 1,300 minutes of first-team football. The majority of those appearances came because of injuries to key players at the back.

While his contract does run until the summer of 2026, he might not have a future at the club.

The player would prefer a move to a club where he could get regular first-team action and Spurs are open to cashing in on him. AC Milan have emerged as a potential destination for the 25-year-old. The Italian giants want to reinforce their full-back position and feel the Brazilian international could be an ideal fit.

However, Tottenham’s asking price of €30 million could be a major hurdle for them. Milan will look to avoid paying a big fee and there is a belief that the North London club could lower their demands towards the end of the window, as a result, they could look to play the waiting game.
