Emerson Royal could leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer amidst interest from multiple top clubs.
The Brazilian international’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is not certain as he is no longer an integral part of their first team. According to a report from Trivela, Emerson Royal ‘should leave’ the North London club in the summer with ‘several teams’ contacting the North London club for his signature.
Things might not have worked out for the 25-year-old at Barcelona but the move to Tottenham did help him revive his career. He was an important part of their first team in the initial years but he has fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Ange Postecoglou at the club.
Emerson hasn’t been the preferred choice at right-back. While he has featured in 24 outings this season, quite a few of those appearances have come out of position. While his contract runs until the summer of 2026, the Brazilian could be on the move ahead of next season.
There is interest in his services from the likes of AC Milan, Bayern Munich and clubs from the Middle East. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr did knock on Tottenham’s door in the winter but their proposal was rejected, they are expected to return for him in the summer.
While there is no shortage of interest in him, the player will prioritize his mental health while deciding his future. He seeks a project where he can play a significant role and compete for major titles, aiming to make his return to the Brazilian national team.
A move to the Middle East could give him a significant pay hike but he is looking for a project where he feels good and the priority at this stage is to join a European outfit. Milan and Bayern have already submitted offers for the player making them the favourites for his signature.
It will be interesting to see if the German outfit can get the deal done. They are expected to appoint Vincent Kompany as the club’s new manager.
