“Embarrassing” – these Spurs fans fume at appalling post-West Ham stat

By Mark Brus -

Loads of Tottenham fans are fuming after today’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham, with the performance once again a real concern, alongside the bad result.

Even if you want to give new managers time to settle and build something, it just doesn’t seem like there’s anything positive to come from whatever Nuno Espirito Santo is trying to do with his tactics.

Either that, or he’s trying to get this group of players to do something very different and they’re just not getting the message, or are unable to carry it out. Whichever it is, it just doesn’t reflect well at all on Nuno.

For all the criticism Jose Mourinho has had for being a defensive manager, he got far more out of Harry Kane and the other attacking players than Nuno has managed, with this stat below just summing up how badly wrong they got it today against the Hammers.

Yes, that’s right, not a single shot in the second half, and it’s not the first time it’s happened this season. It’s happening to Spurs more than anyone else.

This is just unacceptable, and it’s very clear the fans are fast running out of patience…

The truth is the purpose of the last transfer window was to a rebuild but a means of saving money of the wage bill, bravo Daniel What Nuno has inherited is a squad that’s even more lightweight than last years. The first X1 piss poor though they are, picks itself there is no squad depth as demonstrated by our performances in the ECL.
The head coach job at Spurs is a poisoned chalice working for a control freak like Levy operating a hapless recruitment policy run by Levy acolytes. As for the academy, that everyone goes on about what a joke.
We are at best mid table and whilst season tickets for this year have been sold I’d struggle to see what levels of renewal the club will get when the season ends, given the poor quality fare on offer.
Was it only in 2019 that this club reached the ECL final?

I’m in Australia as well, there is no way I’d stay up till 2am or set the alarm to get up and watch this shower of $hite like I used to do. 3 to 5yrs ago maybe, it was exciting and the adrenalin flowed. Couldn’t sleep after game, tired and happy all day. Now just sad and used to it.

Staying up to 2.00am in Sydney to watch that drivel is truly soul crushing!

Nuno is so far out of the shallow end that he must be seeing the first finns (pun intended) breaking the surface, signalling that the “men-in-the-grey-suits” are getting his scent. That he can suggest we were “controlling the game” (you’re in control of a game when you’re 3-0 up), that the “boys worked hard” (no, they didn’t), that the midfield did not lack creativity (it did), says to me that he is now fully disconnected from what is really happening, or in this case – not!

His passive pitch-side inaction and straight face is doing nothing to raise the pulse of this lot, he looks like a Noah or a Moses, just without the staff….. or the wisdom! Frankly, I think he should shave that stupid beard off and get passionate up to and including hauling off “the passengers” and metaphorically or maybe even in reality, delivering a swift kick to the gonads!

There is no fight, no fire and that seems to be a reflection of Nuno.

Harry Kane needs to be hauled off and even dropped if he continues in this fashion; someone said he’s infecting the mood of others and I agree. He is strolling about putting no more than positional pressure on defenders, he’s not chasing down the keeper, he’s not harrying the defenders and for large periods yesterday seemed to be hanging around the areas where formally Dele loitered – doing nothing much more. Yes he can change a game, but at the moment I think he’s changing our game for the worse.

The team are not fit. We get bounced off of the ball (is that strength or the unwillingness to use it) and we run slower and don’t last as long. Our play is pedestrian with players not prepared to look for opportunity if they can pass the buck ball 10 yards for someone else to take responsibility. One of the commentators said “Spurs need to adopt Plan ‘B’ “ – our real trouble is we have no Plan ‘A’!

Our entire strategy seems to be stay in possession until we can’t faff around any longer and then punt it up to their defensive line, rinse and repeat.

I can’t see Nuno having the stones to fix this: it needs a surgeon not a nurse.

Do you bite the bullet and take Eddie Howe?? Because realistically there is no high profile manager that would come anywhere near the stench of Levy and at least we can hope for something that resembles attacking football?

The problem isn’t just creativity
. We get very little from our fullbacks… everytime Royal got the ball it went backwards… contrast that with the right back of every team in the EPL…

Kane should be on the bench… we are simply not a top 6 team… but then again Levy doesnt need us to be to make money.. just get a few more events at the stadium job done.

The team lacks fitness, and pace and spend too much time static .. everyones laughing at Utd getting beat 5-0 but that could easily be us….

Poch would be the ultimate ENIC suit if he returned to work for Levy for a second time. Hopefully, PSG is at least showing him owners of a club with intent to win something meaningful on the pitch. The Levyites rejoicing at the net spend award and stadium debt cup deserve utter contempt for continuing to look beyond the clear neglect of any football-related strategy.

Yes, a reflection of the owners. A crowd a t Upton park is far beyond an Olympic park, different atmosphere, players hearts aren’t in it. Even in the bad seasons of 95/99 era we had some great turn outs vs Arsenal and Liverpool and Man Utd.

The team has no soul, and no heart right now. It’s a dIsparate collection of complacent players who are being realistic about the people that are employing them.

in the 90s the players would’ve known that the cups and the derby games were really where they had to step up. Even if we didn’t do very well over a league season, they had a connection to the fans and what their expectations were at that particular time.

With the way the game is now, Unless you can impart some kind of sense of identity onto the squad and the players, then all you end up with is a load of disconnected mercenaries in the squad.

I’m not saying this squad is exactly that, but there is an element of that if you don’t have an identity, and this team has no identity.

If you look around there are many teams with the same problem, the money has changed everything and you really need great management and recruitment to navigate it. Not the make it up as you go along strategy of Levy & Co, another reason why they’re living in the past.

I think the lack of clear chances is a concern. Jose knew that the forwards had to be supplied somehow, regardless of how much you sat in. The result was far from perfect but at least Kane and Son scored.

However, our league position is not currently markedly worse than it was much of the time under Jose and he was given time. Although his past glories and reputation probably earned him the time, to an extent. Nuno obviously doesn’t have that.

I’m suspecting that Daniel is waiting to see if PSG pull the trigger on Poch, although why Maurice would want to work for the bald-assassin again would be beyond me!

Even the Shat in the ninety’s times I don’t remember losing to Arsenal Chelsea and West Ham in a couple months.

Tremendous progress.

4 London derby’s and 4 defeats. Not even a shot on target in the second half. After going 1 down you’d think they’d show some desire and go all out. The team is a joke, full of sub quality players that just aren’t good enough to wear the Spurs shirt. Levy has to take the blame, not only does he sign these players that don’t cut it but he also brings in a manager that has a brand of football that none of the fans enjoy, this after being promised he would bring in a manager that plays the brand of football all the fans want. Not only will Nuno not make Christmas at this rate, we have to get rid of ENIC and Levy or nothing is going to change. Over 20 years of failure under Levy, would he allow anyone managing to have 20 years of failure, NO, so why do us fans put up with it and believe things will change next season every year. The only way things will change is if we force out ENIC and Levy for good, they have to go.

So NES plays second string on Thursday and they manage to lose 1-0. NES plays first string 3 days later and they manage to lose 1-0. Can someone tell me what was the point of that risky strategy on Thursday? He has not been vindicated -only a win today could justify that decision. NES has played 4 London teams and lost every game; cumulative score 10-1. In the background you’ve got Kane who clearly couldn’t give a flying f£$k, only he’s not in the background is he? He’s always centre stage but it’s a mistake that he is guaranteed a spot imo. He spends a lot of time trotting around aimlessly or falling over himself. Big mistake not to sell a player who doesn’t want to be there and Kane’s disappointment is rubbing off on his team mates wearing everyone down bit by bit, game by game (including me). I have to agree with others on here that the football is truly awful and the performances of both players and manager are becoming painful, embarrassing and pitiful in equal measure. The only bit of pride I can salvage is that I have not been to pay to see the team live and have no intention of doing so until things change. To start with Kane has to go in January and so does NES-good luck with that one Danny Boy.

Any manager under ENIC have no control and get told what to do…DNA..WTF…Klopp has full control…..Nuno is and always was a dead man walking…..Son & Kane let us down today, for once we played ok at the back but had no presence up front putting the midfield under pressure….no subs because he has no subs….Levy will push blame on Nuno and we go again….

Back to type then.

I said when the media were pretending Levy was getting Conte he would perhaps go to Utd. Now they’ve made it clear with the result today that Solskjaer will be replaced.
Conte is in the media linked with the job and this ridiculous result will pave the way for him to come in and win silverware.

The players don’t like nor do they want to play for NES. I said when he was appointed he’d be gone by Xmas. I suspect if we lose next week it will be sooner.
