€30 million Tottenham player heading towards summer exit

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon joined Spanish club Atletico Madrid at the start of the season but the move has not gone according to plan for him.

The 26-year-old left-back joined Atletico Madrid in search of regular playing time. However, he has made just 5 appearances all season and his time at Wanda Metropolitano has been plagued with injuries.

Furthermore, he has also failed to earn the trust of manager Diego Simeone, and the Argentine is not keen on offering the player ample playing time.

The defender has a contract with Spurs until the summer of 2025 but a report from Eldesmarque claims that the Premier League club do not want to hold on to him beyond this summer. Apparently, Atletico Madrid do not want to sign the player permanently either and Reguilon is all set to bid farewell to the Spanish club at the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs can find a new club for the player in the summer. Reguilon needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and a permanent exit from the London club would be ideal for him.

It remains to be seen whether he can find the side willing to trust in his abilities and give him the platform he needs. The defender was highly rated in Spanish football during his loan spell at Sevilla and that convinced Spurs to pay €30m for him. The 26-year-old will be desperate to get back to that level once again.
