Dutch journalist claims Spurs are ‘looking to discuss a move’ for Chelsea star – opinion

According to Dutch news outlet AD, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech and hope to hold talks about a possible move to north London this week.

According to the report, Antonio Conte is looking to add an experienced attacker to his squad. Nicolo Zaniolo of AS Roma has been of huge interest all summer as well, but recent reports suggest that José Mourinho has persuaded the Italian international to stay in Rome and the player is considering signing a new contract with the club.

Ziyech is eager to leave Chelsea due to a lack of regular playing time and has held talks with former club Ajax in recent days, who are potentially bracing for Antony’s departure to Manchester United.

According to AD, Ziyech wants to leave Chelsea and was looking into returning to Ajax last week, and Spurs are “looking to discuss a move” for him in London this week. That’s pretty much it — no word on a potential price, Chelsea’s willingness to sell, or anything else. So keep that in mind as well.

Most likely, these are just baseless links specially considering, Chelsea hasn’t really sold a player to Spurs since 2009 plus, it wouldn’t make sense for Ziyech to leave Chelsea to look for regular playing time and then come to Spurs where he might not be promised regular playing time either.

But if it were to happen this could be quite an interesting signing. Ziyech is 29 now, and has proven his attacking prowess in Europe previously. A short-term option to bring in a creative attacking player who could play across the attacking midfield band with his versatility would not be the worst signing.
