Tottenham have been dealt a major blow as summer signing Wilson Odobert faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines following surgery on his right hamstring.

The young French winger is not expected to return to action until 2025, with sports injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar suggesting that his recovery could take several weeks.

Doctor shares update on Wilson Odobert

Dr. Brar, a physical therapist and sports scientist, noted that this injury is separate from Odobert’s earlier hamstring issues. Since the hamstring is composed of multiple muscles, a strain in one can increase the risk of injury to others.

Given the nature of the surgery, Dr. Brar expressed doubt about Odobert’s chances of returning before the year’s end, emphasizing the importance of a careful rehabilitation process.

Speaking to Tottenham News, the doctor said:

“Sounds like another hamstring injury but not the same hamstring which was injured before.

“Not uncommon since the hamstrings are a group of different muscles so having injury to one can put more strain on the rest.

“As he’s had surgery, I do not see him returning before the end of the year and will be out for several weeks.“

Wilson Odobert: Injury-marred start to Tottenham career

Odobert’s debut season at the club has been far from smooth. The 19-year-old forward joined from Burnley in August for a significant transfer fee, arriving with high expectations. However, his recurring hamstring problems have severely limited his involvement.

Earlier in the campaign, Odobert missed seven matches due to a similar injury. Since late October, he has been sidelined again after a setback, adding six more games to his absence.

Although he showed promise during his debut in a 4-0 victory over Everton, Odobert has only managed 182 minutes across five appearances in all competitions.

This lack of game time has hindered his ability to make a meaningful impact, leaving both the player and the club frustrated.

Despite this setback, Tottenham remain committed to supporting Odobert’s recovery. The club is focused on ensuring that he returns fully fit and ready to contribute to the squad’s goals.

While Odobert is set to miss a major chunk of the season, his potential return in the final stages of the campaign could provide a much-needed boost to the team.
