‘Don’t think Conte fancied him’: Postecoglou credited with transforming Spurs ace

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion last summer.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder struggled to adapt to his new surroundings and he was not a key starter for the north London outfit under Antonio Conte. Despite impressing in the Premier League with Brighton in the past, the Malian defensive midfielder struggled to recapture his peak form at Tottenham.

The departure of Conte has now given the 27-year-old midfielder a lifeline at Tottenham. The arrival of Ange Postecoglou has completely transformed the defensive midfielder and he is now one of the first names on the team sheet. Bissouma has been exceptional for Tottenham this season and he has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league once again.

Popular pundit Don Hutchison has now heaped praise (h/t TBR Football) on the 27-year-old midfielder for managing to rediscover his form and getting his career back on track. Hutchison added that Antonio Conte did not fancy the midfielder during his time at the club, but the arrival of Postecoglou has transformed the team and the midfielder as well.

“Incredible, he’s built a very good squad hasn’t he? I like his style, I like his attitude. There will be a time that Tottenham lose a few on the spin, but they’re trending the right way. All footballers will tell you, you can get on board with a manager who wants to play football. Look at someone like Bissouma, I don’t think Conte fancied him, many others were the same under Jose or Conte, this Tottenham team now looks like they’re playing good football. Any fan will be on board with the team playing this way,” Hutchison said.

Bissouma will be hoping to enjoy his football and guide Tottenham back to the top four this season. Spurs have started the seas really well and they will hope to secure Champions League qualification and compete for domestic trophies.

Judging by his performances so far, it is fair to assume that the 27-year-old midfielder will be an indispensable asset for Postecoglou during his time at the club.
