Yesterday’s announcement regarding the severity of Harry Kane’s injury intensified a need for a new striker that was already priority No.1.
Krzysztof Piątek is the name – and a rather challenging one at that – that is being strongly mooted, with The Sun reporting that a £28m deal is close.

The 24-year-old only joined AC Milan from Genoa a year ago and is already up for sale, following the recent return of 38-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
That is not a great indictment of Piatek’s San Siro career, but the Poland international has done better at Milan than it may appear at first glance.
A return of 15 goals in 33 starts is pretty good going, and we can see the quality and variety of those goals in the video below. Headers, curlers, one-on-ones and first-time finishes from crosses – it is an impressive showreel.

His goals have dried up a little this season, with four in in 14 starts, but that still makes him top scorer in a Milan team who only have 16 in 18 Serie A games, as though they were constantly playing against their own famous 90s defensive lineup.
Who knows why his Milan spell looks set to end so soon? The prospect of spending any time with Zlatan would be enough for me to want to leave.
But it is not because he hasn’t done the business. Piatek is no flop.
Same as that.. Darren bent, kanoute (wish he stayed longer).. We usually played with two up top then though.. So two strikers starting, and two replacements for cover or alternatives…. Son isnt a striker… Its criminal there is no cover for kane… Sad truth is kane has made us look good for time now. Its no suprise hes injured loads hes never been looked after. Overused and abused.
😆 It really isn’t difficult to cross is it. Whether a lofty floater, or whip it in hard and fast. Corners are even easier yet we fail them too constantly… Bobby soldado had that problem, no delivery. Impressive showreel before he came too.. Spain and Italian leagues are far easier to score against the majority of teams. Its another story to do it in the premiership. This striker should have been brought as soon as llorente left pre season, then perhaps kane wouldnt have played more than anyone. Sissoko the next overused player is also injured. More consequence from yet more neglect… Superbowls, nfl promotions, restaurants, more land,, all effort and focus on everything apart from the actual football team. The rocky horror levy show… It will be interesting when maureen doesn’t get his targets.

I suppose one word of caution. I noticed Wolves signing from Milan, Cutrone pop up in the piece. He’s already being shipped out the door to Fiorentina..
IF and it’s a very big IF he signs we’ll have the usual expectation for him to hit the ground running and bang in 20 goals. He won’t of course, because Spurs don’t buy players who hit the ground running. What we’ll get is another fantastic player who gets ruined by Spurs and is sold on for half what we paid next season……

I liked the days of 4 strikers, Keane, Berbatov, Mido, Defoe….all different, all capable of banging them in the onion sack…..how we’ve managed with 1 all this time is a testament to Son’s ability to score and stay fit.

I think this is a great idea – would rest the first team, and would offer real prospects development. I would also make the PL2 and the first team train together at least a couple of times a week.

It’s Daniel Levy that’s the “flop”, unlikely this will happen…just watched a different YouTube roll and he looks ok, if he’s 24m it’s a no brainer…Levy is probably waiting till tomorrow evening to see how bad it really is..
If the truth be known, we need two strikers in the Jan window. I always liked the look of Dembele at Lyon. We nearly signed him when he was at Fulham but Levy fouled the deal up. The problem with of doing business with Lyon is that their president Aulas, does not have fond memories of dealing with Levy. Mind you there is a very short list of football club chairmen who have fond memories of our beloved chairman.
100% better than nothing, and when Kane is back at least we have someone for cup games etc to give the boy a rest. Here’s to the “new Lewandowski” and not the new Rasiak….
However, when we’ve previously lost Kane to his annual ankle, Son has banged in a bagful…..more concerned with CDM position with no Sissoko and no other “positional” midfielder worth a jot….

Ok – no TOP striker in todays market is less than £30m as he hits 23 without good reason… if he actually is, there would be bids from all over Europe. Don’t kid yourself, this is not a world class striker, and you could question if really is better than Parrett could be given the game time.
Good luck to him, what worries me is our track record of duds and just bang average players. Oh and just to end on a high note Krzysztof will now be playing every minute of every game, who is his back up? If he starts with a hattrick against Liverpool I’m going all in on him.
