Rio Ferdinand states Manchester City might not come for Harry Kane due to poor form

By Eddie Razo -

The 2021-22 Premier League season hasn’t started like Harry Kane had hoped. For one, he would have preferred a move out of Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester City after a summer of rumors. Second, Kane only has one goal in 13 matches.

During his “vibe with FIVE podcast” former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand stated that Kane is playing his way out of another possible attempt to Manchester City. Ferdinand adds that the Premier League club could look elsewhere if Kane doesn’t find a way out of his current funk.

“I don’t think they’ll let him go in the January window. But in the summer, you’re thinking if he continues playing this way, not scoring the goals, do City even come back and try and take him?” Ferdinand said. “This isn’t a Harry Kane we’ve grown to love.”

Yes, Kane finds himself in terrible form in the Premier League, but the saving grace could be that Manchester City might not want to bet on landing a player who needs time to adjust to the domestic competition.

Reports over the summer suggest that manager Pep Guardiola is out in 2023 when his contract expires, so perhaps they could pursue Kane since he knows the league and doesn’t need time to adjust. Nonetheless, if Manchester City lands a star player like Erling Haaland, that point might be mute.

However, if outside of a Haaland type, perhaps Guardiola might not have the patience for a young striker considering the window to win the UEFA Champions League is either this season or next.

Well put, and players do lose form over the length of a career. The fact that his loss of form is so unusual for Harry just shows the high standards he has set.

Suits me down to the ground. Once all these distractions are out of the way, Harry can go back to concentrating on what he does best. Blasting in the goals!

The being ‘over played’ scenario carries a lot of weight, his current form is nowhere near his previous seasons, but it’s probably a combination of matters that is behind his lack of goals.
I imagine mentally he’s a little down with what happened in the summer with England and the big move that never was, add to that the changes of management within the club and there are plenty of excuses for him to not reach his normal best.
There is also a certain amount of uncertainty about where his future lies and whether this club is going to achieve the success he craves, it’s no surprise then is it.

Kanes price is the key. City only had about 80 million wriggle room to meet ffp. That’s how levy priced the move out.

Kane has been abused under Levy’s watch, no cover so he’s been forced to play far too many games over the last few years. Now he’s blown. Absurd situation thanks to the little bald troll. Serves the little beggar right tbh.

I think Harry is tired physically and mentally. Not having another striker to keep him fresh and no summer breaks because of World Cups and Euros.

Playing as an extra midfielder doesn’t help either. All those injuries must take a toll too.
