Did Spurs Score Too Early? [video]

Strange question to pose, I know, a bit like asking the people from the Lotto if they could pop back after the weekend, with your cheque. However, the timing is worth a thought.

Pochettino felt the goal was perhaps too early, “Of course when we scored so early it was like we need to defend, defend” …and Klopp echoed his sentiment “Early goal makes one thing clear,” Klopp said to Jason Burt for The Telegraph. “Game on.”

Unless you’re involved in match fixing, it’s nigh on impossible to choose your goalscoring moment.

Pochettino’s problem wasn’t the timing of the first Tottenham goal – it was the timing of the second Tottenham goal.

you would think…then he plays like that against Liverpool. I don’t want a player that only plays in the weeks leading up to international duty (although that would be an improvement on Alli). I agree though, the England thing will spur him on because his endorsements will drop. No one wants a midfielder from a mid table team endorsing their product.

ENIC are the problem, doesn’t matter what property we kick a ball about in. They are tight fisted and unimaginative penny pinchers who will never see the benefits of success on the pitch like Liverpool’s owners for example.

They want a director of football and Ropey League, nice and cheap to run. While the stadium becomes mainly known as Europe’s main NFL destination.

The Lane was a 36k excuse for not competing, now it’s the debt on the NFL project. ENIC always have an excuse to not spend on the team, it’s what they do. Wankers…

Embarrassing that we haven’t won anything in the new stadium after all these years we’ve been in it!? People who don’t like the new place hate to see cricketers not wearing whites and refs not wearing all black. Good luck to them. I don’t want my club being left behind. We’ve done what they’re all going to do. We’re leading the fucking way again. People say we coulda won this that and the other with the stadium money. Yeah. prove it.

This period under Poch has been the best under ENIC and better than any period under Sugar. Before that we had a brief period in the early 90’s and a more sustained one in the early 80’s then you really have to go back to Bill Nic for the big stuff.

Poch has done great things for us under the circumstances, if he wants to pick a team of senior players that Levy has left him with to play at Anfield then so be it. Aurier is our only senior right fullback, Eriksen our only playmaker and are you telling me Davies and Verts were screaming out to start that game?

Yes, he was late with the subs but Poch has a method and won’t rush players in that are new. We came fairly close to winning it, Sonny could have won it twice. If it weren’t for Aurier being Aurier we’d have certainly come away with something… Moura should probably have come on earlier.

ENIC OUT.

As much as I have become very much anti ENIC, I have to agree. Rose tinted specs and selective memory at play here. Under ENIC we had the same shit at The Lane too, only now it’s more embarrassing because of the new stadium being spun as ‘world class’ while the team is in decline…

We’d better hope Poch isn’t finished because our owners will only fund up to 7th place.

Unless we can find someone who can turn 7th into 3rd or 4th, it’s us that’s finished…

The stadium is the problem. You can ride out bad spells at WHL, not now. Levy was building this white hefalump to be a top team so he said….but that was of course bollocks cos he has completely neglected the football side.
European super league on the horizon which we ain’t invited into, where is this going? Nowhere is where.

Most of that is sadly very true but you could add our wingbacks are average and poor Kane has had 3 big injuries which have affected him [plus he gets no service]. We are certainly not a ‘top team’ but lucky for us there seems to be only 2 of them in the premier league currently. The mancs and chelski with their never ending cash supply will relegate us to 5-7th for the foreseeable future, soon.

I wouldn’t drop Dele (yet) but he wouldn’t get more than 70mins per game if he’s not doing what he’s supposed to do. I’d say that to him before every game. Serge I’m dropping and giving KWP a good run untill yousef atal comes. Dire and rose must be sold along with the Ajax 3. tanganga must play more. Ndomballer is undropable

I don’t think drop Aurier or Alli for that long, but I think both should be squad players now…allowed to appear for 30mins each game, no more until they earn more time. I agree about 2nd half of the season though, a shit January and we may as well just hope to stay up.
I was having a think during the game…looking at our Bench…we have always said Poch has no depth (and it is true to an extent) but we had Dier, Jan, LoCelso, Moura, and Ndombele on our bench…yet we felt the need to play Alli and CE…plus not make a sub until the 63rd minute where we replaced a player doing well…the next 2 players were given a combined total of 7 mintues to change the game!! we were under the kosh for the whole game and yet the 2 players doing the least basically got a whole game.

I don’t think Eriksen,Aurier or Dele should play for us before January. At that time hopefully the first two will go.I’ve been a fan of Rose, but he’s just a hothead now and I expect him to go too.

By then Dele may have realised what he has to lose and will be desperate to join the squad. If not he’s toast.
Along with Toby and Jan running their contracts down, the second half of the season looks extremely worrying when you consider Levy’s track record of backing the manager. That’s half the first team to replace to just stand still. It looks like Poch is drowning and there’s no lifeboat.

Woolwich are suffering from bad purchases for years…the new manager will not fix that over night. Wenger bought poor footballers, he bought Athletes. Poch has no such excuse. I think of the above list…
Sherwood – Big mouth…but tried to integrate youth – if he wasn’t such a dickhead he could have been good (just not as good as he thought he was)
AVB – Negative/boring…think Jose without the success and attitude
Harry – Great, but bought old players, wanted old players and never gave youth a real chance…that said, GREAT to watch. I don’t think he deserved more chances though as when we needed him…he chocked. we had a huge lead in 4th and we screwed it up
Santini – less said about that the better
Ramos – see Santini
Jol – SO SO badly treated. I loved Jol. Wasn’t great for us, but I always felt he could have done more. Was a shadow of himself after Levy
Poch – Needed to be backed, wasn’t backed, but also spineless, with no plan B. Really needed to drop players that were not there (mentally/physically) an show levy how dire the situation really was. Instead he keeps trying to fit these reprobates in. He is to management what ENIC is to ownership…did enough to get to the next level (where the money/prestige is) but doesn’t have what it takes to go the next step….Klopp dropped Salah when he went off the boil for example

That lot from Woolwich arent doing much better with their shiney new manager.

Its almost as if its the players who are the biggest influence not the manager.

Harry was right about that.

Sherwood- shit.
AVB- shit.
Harry- good players but ultimately not backed.
Ramos- should have been Jols league cup. team dismantled. SHIT.
Jol- tried but shit.
Santini- bus wanker.
Shit all the way back to Venables.

All shit and now people are fed up with the latest Shit and want another shit.

You’re all shit

I had money on Spurs/Liverpool draw (I think the united Draw I should have known better) however…I think Liverpool went off script, they were supposed concede a goal after the penalty…anyway – Expect a surprise result at the weekend is my guess.

Poch turned the gun on himself with that team selection.

Stumbled on a good 11 in midweek and then rotates out the 2 players who seemed to be the missing links (Davies and Ndembele).

Everton next up. Sunday 4:30 for our next instalment of failing to live up to expectations.

30 years a supporter/fan next season and its been a bit shit to be honest. Ha ha

I couldn’t agree more. That team has directness and pace and desire to be successful. I’ve wanted that exact line-up myself. I could see Lamela playing a part in there off the bench or starting if needed for injury.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Levy is putting pressure on Poch to play the want-a-ways to get a January sale in, problem is the more he plays them the less they are going to be worth…So if Poch has this rotation theory, shouldn’t that also apply to Kane, Moura, Skipp etc etc…

Ndombele was supposed to be our star signing in the last transfer window. A statement of our intent now we have a nice shiny NFL stadium. A Pooch choice it was stated. So what does Pooch do having got a confidence building result and facing the CL finalists who beat us last time out and playing at their gaff. Instead of playing your best side he rotates to keep Winks happy FFS! What has Moura done to receive such shocking treatment. Oh that’s right scored a hatrick and single handed got us into the CL Final only to be dropped for that Final. What also was the point of bringing on Los Celso with two minutes to go when you are losing the match? The fullback situation is a farce when you consider that Liverpool after being humbled by us on a number of occasions decided what we had that they needed were two quality fullbacks that could attack with pace and cross the ball into dangerous area’s. So they went and solved that problem and Pooch and Levy decided to dismantle our fullback formation. Tell me, do you think any quality players are wanting to join this clusterfu*k of an NFL event management enterprise based on what everyone can see. It is an absolute joke and an absolute sell out of the football club and it’s supporters…. who by the way pay some of the highest ticket prices out there.

100% agree with everything in your post, slightly surprised you let off Rose, Aurier and Eriksen though. Team for the next few weeks would look like this for me:
GK – Gazzinga
RB – Foyth
LB – Sessegnon
CB – Sanchez
CB – Alderweireld or Verts
CM – Sissoko
CM – N’Dombele
AM – Lo Celso
RW – Moura
LW – Son
CF – Kane

Stick with this team for the next 5-6 matches and the form will soon turn around. At least it wont have players that want to leave and will also have some pace about it.

Spot on H. I hate to say it but Poch now has to go. He is letting his own bruised ego get in the way of making objective decisions. It’s almost as if he played Winks in defiance of his critics, particularly when cast in the light of his ridiculous post game comments. It’s hard to understand why Poch steadfastly selects players who continue to underachieve while failing to start the players brought in to replace them.
