This is the Dele Alli we had been hearing a lot of – but seen far too little of – essentially since he joined us. More of that later.
The first goal was a piece of pure class, with two beautiful touches from Son Heung-Min and Alli which made for a cracking start.
Then Davinson Sanchez thought he had scored, but VAR called out his handball.
Dele Alli also got the second, and this was a world class finish by anyone’s standards.
Sissoko’s goal was almost as good as the celebrations that followed…
How strange that now that Pooch has departed suddenly Ali has resurfaced and Toby is once again pinging glorious long balls to create two of yesterdays goals. Even Sissoko scored. A simple tweak which Pooch seemed unable to see was to push Aurier up as a right wingback where he can play to his strengths and if he does brain fart its not in our penalty area whilst keeping our left back deep to hold three across the back line and cover for Aurier with defensive player either Sanchez or Toby. Interestingly Sissoko was pushing further forward than I have seen him before and I thought had a good game. The one player that looks totally off the pace is Dier and he needs to be sold in my opinion and a strong fast and skillful DM needs to come in to cover the back line. I would like to see Sessignon given a run maybe in front of Verts so he can add pace down the left flank but that may be a difficult fit with Son and Lucas covering the left and right wide attacking options. He may be good to bring on for the last 20 mins to pin the opponents back deeper in their own halves and stop this situation where we are allowing teams onto us and they are nicking late goals.
🎼he only cost 5 mil
With bags & bags a skill.. Who’s “ozil” to be better than? He’s poo😂
Dele can take Mounts position in the England squad.
He certainly seems to be showing the form of 3 or 4 years ago, let’s hope it continues. It will be interesting to see if he plays his way into the England squad again and whether Southgate uses him in that same position.
