Decision Made: Tottenham to part ways with 27-year-old midfielder

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to part ways with Tanguy Ndombele during the upcoming transfer window.

The Frenchman’s stint at Galatasaray has been disappointing since he arrived on a season-long loan deal last September, with an option for a permanent transfer. Recent reports indicate that the Turkish club have chosen not to pursue that option.

Furthermore, according to Football Insider, upon his return from the loan spell at Galatasaray, Ndombele is set to leave North London as he is not in Spurs’ plans.

On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Senior Correspondent Pete O’Rourke emphasised that Ndombele has likely played his final game for the Lilywhites.

The central midfielder’s contract with the Lilywhites is set to expire in June of the following year, prompting the club to seek a potential buyer for him this summer.

Despite making 26 appearances for Galatasaray this season across all competitions, he only managed a total of 661 minutes on the field.

Since he arrived at Tottenham from Lyon in 2019 for a hefty transfer fee of €62 million, Ndombele has struggled to meet expectations. In his time at Spurs, he has featured in 91 games, scoring 10 goals and providing 9 assists.

The decision to offload Ndombele is in line with Ange Postecoglou’s vision for a squad overhaul in North London, as the Australian manager aims to revamp the side this summer.
