Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
The 28-year-old Denmark international is reportedly a target for Atletico Madrid but the Spanish giants have not been able to agree on a deal to sign him yet.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid have submitted a verbal proposal to sign the player and the offer does not match up to Tottenham’s expectations. It seems that Atletico Madrid want to sign the player on loan with an option to buy him permanently. Romano claims that ‘deal currently complicated’ because of the offer.

Hojbjerg has been a key player since joining Spurs and the Londoners will look to recoup as much as possible if they are forced to sell him. He was one of the first names on the team sheet under the previous manager Antonio Conte. However, there is a belief that he does not fit into Ange Postecoglou’s current style of play and therefore Spurs are prepared to cash in on him.
He has proven himself in the Premier League and the Bundesliga in the past. He has the technical and physical attributes to succeed in La Liga as well. Diego Simeone’s conservative approach could be the ideal fit for the player this season. He will help control the tempo of the game and provide defensive cover to the side.
It will be interesting to see if Atletico Madrid improve their proposal for the player before the window closes in order to get the deal done.
