Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2024 and the London club could be under pressure to cash in on him if he refuses to sign an extension soon.
Tottenham will not want to lose him on a free transfer in 2024 and it would make sense for them to sell him at the end of this season if he does not extend his contract.
Forward Tottenham striker Darren Bent has now claimed that appointing Mauricio Pochettino as the replacement for Antonio Conte could help secure the England international’s future.
“I feel like we’ve been here before with Harry Kane. I don’t really see a burning ambition to leave,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“He did that whole Man City thing, maybe he conducted himself in the wrong way, and it’s not been spoken about since.
“If Pochettino goes back to Spurs I think Kane signs a new contract.”
Pochettino enjoyed a close relationship with Kane during his time as Tottenham’s manager and his arrival could convince the England international to commit his long-term future to the club.
Antonio Conte will be out of contract in the summer and the Italian has been linked with the return to Italy.
Pochettino is currently without a job and the opportunity to return to the Premier League could be a tempting option for him.
The 51-year-old Argentine manager did a stellar job at Tottenham during his previous spell at the club and he helped them challenge for the Premier League trophy and the Champions League trophy.
He knows the club well and has a strong bond with the fans. Furthermore, several senior members of the squad know him well and his methods. It could be the ideal appointment for the Londoners.
