Things are going from bad to worse at Tottenham, with Spurs being utterly humiliated at Europe’s top table. Igor Tudor’s tenure has been highly disappointing and is under severe pressure. He has lost all four of his matches in charge (his first four games as Tottenham manager), marking the worst start by any head coach in the club’s history.
This includes last night’s humiliating 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16 first leg, where Tottenham conceded heavily early on.
A major controversy from that game involved his decision to start young goalkeeper Antonín Kinský (who had limited experience) and then replace him after just 17 minutes, with the score already 3-0. Tudor defended it as necessary to “protect the guy and the team,” admitting he’d never done anything like it in 15 years of coaching. Still, it drew widespread criticism for poor man-management and adding to the chaos.
Alasdair Gold said this morning that Igor is scheduled to host the presser ahead of the Liverpool game; however, after Tudor described the team as “fragile and weak” and gave a “no comment” when asked if he deserved to continue in the role.
Reports indicate Tottenham are considering sacking him before the upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool, with the hierarchy reportedly set to meet players to assess his future. The club is winless in their last 11 games overall, sitting around 16th in the Premier League table and flirting with relegation danger.
