Crystal Palace is the exact sort of game we would normally fluff

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is in a great position. They sit top of the table, Chelsea lost yesterday and Man Utd and Man City drew which has presented Spurs with a great opportunity to put a little daylight between themselves and some of the chasing pack.

A win against Palace would almost certainly mean Spurs retain the top spot, it would put them five points ahead of Chelsea, seven ahead of United and eight in front of City.

Obviously, Liverpool, who face Fulham this afternoon, are likely to remain on the same points as us and no doubt Leicester City will have their say as well.

But to put daylight between ourselves and three of the top six is an opportunity that Jose Mourinho and his men have to take advantage of.

In previous times this is the sort of opportunity that Tottenham has squandered, thus the accusations of being Spursy.

That is a tag that has to be eradicated and today is an important step in that process and Spurs definitely have the manager to achieve the shedding of that Spursy slur.

Last season, prior to the Chelsea game, Tottenham were in a good position to close in on a top-four spot but we blew it, today we simply cannot.

Mourinho is a winner, he was brought in to win silverware and to be that difference when it really mattered.

Today is a huge test for him and for the lads as well. Do they have that elusive winning mentality?

We will soon find out.
