“The position that we are in is a very good position,” Pochettino told PA Sport: “Of course (we are) disappointed, in the last few Premier League games, we didn’t win.
“But still we are in a position that everyone should sign for at the beginning of the season.”
At the beginning of the season, nobody signed.
“It is difficult to predict the circumstances at the start of the season.
“To be in a very good position at the end of the season, maybe we need to understand that it is our limit to be there.
“If it is our limit, we need to take some decisions in the future.”
So is this a threat to eventually sign someone?
HH says: I’m becoming increasingly concerned with fans talking up the possibility of either Gareth Bale or Luka Modric returning.
What’s worse, is this is coming in the main, from the same clowns that were only a few weeks ago screaming about ‘building’ something.
Bale is 30 later this year.
Modric is 34 later this year.
‘Take some decisions in the future.’
You’re not on the only one, pal.
Mate, Bale is NEVER coming back to Spurs. As much as we’d all love to see him back, playing, and contributing like we know he can. Even if the Welsh wizard were willing to lower himself, and that’s a big “if”, Levy would NEVER pay his wages. He’d have to up pay to Kane, etc. blah blah blah and (for those who have not been paying attention) that’s simply not how ENIC rolls. We are much more likely to be spoon fed yet ANOTHER window without strengthening.
I hadn’t looked into this at all Mike, so knew little about it and obviously my comments were flippant off the cuff bloggins stuff. Your link makes pretty grim reading.
😬
I was just wondering what the BPL is,too!
I’d have him in ahead any of our three behind Kane, currently Eriksen would miss out for me because he’s currently playing like a big girl’s blouse.
He’s be a better option than Rose or Davies at wingback too, although a bit too injury prone of late…
I have yet to see an example where a DOF ensure’s that signings are any better than at clubs without a ‘DOF’.
It’s all about scouting and financial outlay, the DOF thing is completely irrelevant. A smokescreen if anything….
Bavarian Purveyors of Lactose
Never happen. We would never take the wage cuts plus hes injured half the time in Spain. Though to be fair, him on a cane would prob be more productive then erikson has been this year

Why would anyone want to be dof at spurs under levy? It was clear that Mitchell couldn’t wait to get out. Any planned buying strategy of recruitment would be buggered up by Danny boys famous late interventions into the market by which time our targets would be probably be gone.
Tad harsh comparing us with the Dildo brothers. Our business model is definitely Arsenal shite 2.0. No doubt Levy will be pressuring the FA to provide a trophy for 4th place. The future is more like gory, gory Tottenham Hotspur as we fade into mediocrity in the fading shine of our not so new stadium.
Remember the old European cup matches? Tough, tough competitive battles. Villa and Forest and Liverpool going away and grinding out spirited performances. Its entertainment inc. Now. WWE.
Since Bale in fact
Something about the names of Kane and Bale both on a teamsheet – has to generate a tingle, probably a misguided and naïve tingle, but a tingle nonetheless
Yep, salt in the wound Accy but it’s ancient history and doesn’t papaer over our lamentable 2nd half ‘showing’ – we had more than enough to put that game away first half, should never have even been an issue.
I have mixed feelings on that one. Dont know with our mostly bad transfer policy of late who’s to be blamed. I think Sanchez & fouth were good pick ups for the future while Serge, Lucas have been absolute garbage. I thought llorente made sense at the time but doesnt fit in with our system. Sissy was a panic buy who’s only become descent of late. The magnificent 7 have turned out to be rubbish. Very telling that paul cut & run as fast as he did under levy. He scouted pretty well for southhampton. Realized levy had no ambition & left prob feeling his hands we’re tied so why bother trying. Dont really see anyone who would want that job & dont see levy paying anyone to do that job. How much input poch had with our resent flips is anyone’s guess.
He’d give the place a lift and he still has the fear factor for the oppo as he still can conjure up a shot from nowhere.
As long as he isn’t our ONLY signing I’d welcome it…
They are currently prosecuting the football links guy. His hacking has brought down some really corrupt shit. Cheatski, man city, tax evasion part of it. He also cites emails that doesnt make ranaldo look good in the complaint against him. I’ll hold my judgment till it’s all been figured out but it doesnt look good
Yup. When fit and played Bale wins you matches and doesn’t go missing, i’d swop him for the Tin man in a heartbeat if we could work out wages and £50mil to spend on a replacement CM. Seems like we haven’t had a properly exciting player at Spurs in ages..
I not sure paul. No question dispite his arrogance hes a great player. But the rape charges are pretty damning. & if true, fuck that guy.

“you know what you are”…hehe, “insert here” best answers on a postcard!
Comolli’s only discernible talent is a genuine aptitude for getting every manager he works for the sack with his shitty signings!
Building to what? I’ve forgotten.
What exactly is the ‘BPL’? Does it stand for the British Practitioners of Liposuction?
We don’t need a DOF, we just need decent scouts and a chairman who will pay market rate wages to sign quality players. While that doesn’t change you can give anybody any old job description you like.
Every DOF we’ve ever had has been complete shite, Pleat was about the best. Comolli and Baldini both made atrocious signings on the whole…
So Mike Dean tells everyone what Poch said. It’s all about Mike and he know’s what he is.
Can’t help wondering if the fact nobody argued about the position of the free kick is to with the fact none of them give a shit anymore. Certainly explains alot. And now some journo from the times is saying Jan has had enough and wants out also. Dark days are looming large. Still apparently they are trying to tempt saracens into playing there, get the new England patriots in and maybe get Adele to do a summer gig and uncle Joe can get himself a new Picasso. The twat
I would be open to Bale returning as a marquee signing, fully aware that he is not the player he was 2 – 3 years ago. However, with his playing time properly managed, using him for the “big” games, I think he could do a job. His shooting, crossing and set piece delivery is better than Eriksen’s and, if he still has his pace, a lot quicker than him as well. At the moment I’d rather have Bale out on our right wing than Eriksen.
But it’s a no thanks to Mr Me No Like Chicken Badge.
This is a bit crazy – something somebody picked up on about Ward-Prowse’s free kick:

you are so right Harry Enic will turn us into West Ham scrapping about for the players nobody else wants the only thing Enic has given us is a hard time
Matt Law wrote an interesting piece in yesterday’s Telegraph suggesting that Spurs should appoint a new director of football. Graham Roberts, Levy’s favourite pit bull, alluded to the fact in a tweet yesterday, that perhaps Poch wasn’t the best judge in the transfer market. I am all for a new Dof as our transfer policy is woeful, but who would work for Levy who is not only an expert on project management but also a renowned negotiator in the murky world of football transfers!
Its’ because they’ve had Ronaldo at Madrid and Bale isn’t Ronaldo, that’s why they don’t like him much. Bale is still a tremendous player, it’s just fashionable to slag him off, constantly…
Save for the discovery of a kiddie torture dungeon beneath his house he’s pretty much untouchable. I invite all those who said he was over the hill and Juve were wasting their money to comment now. Same people who were writing Bale off as a complete waste of space days before he single handedly won RM the CL.
I agree. Madrid have already payed their dues in embarrassing fashion. The draw will be interesting.
He might be a narcacist but by fuck he is a tremendous player. You can’t take anything away from him and his stats say everything about him.
It’s all desperately sad. IF he did want to ‘leap’ into action, he couldn’t anyway because there’s no money.
The CL is very rigged, too many spectacular come backs. Juve last night (Athletico were as poor as I have ever seen them). I am willing to bet Juve and City do not get drawn against each other.
I know they’ve greased the wheels for City in the CL this year but 10-2 in a last 16 match?? The German league has also weakened considerably and again it puts Dortmund’s quality in perspective. They’ve blown their lead at the top and Munich will win it. Again. Pep says he doesn’t like the CL. Hmmmm, probably cos he couldn’t win it with teams he really should have. He will like it better by summertime I expect.
So the charges from the FA are detailed now, and Dean has not been shy in airing all the dirty laundry, even playing the “I was intimidated” line. So I wonder if Poch will take the high road here or tell the world what was said to get him so riled that he felt the need to confront Dean in such a manner when usually he gives the ref a free ride.
Levy has obviously assumed and hoped that Poch would be able to defy logic and sustain or even improve the team with 0% investment.
Alas, Poch is now telling Baldy that even achieving what he has before on such unprecedentedly low levels of commitment at board level is becoming impossible.
The no-trophy-Champions League-participation model even requires some significant investment when your competitors are spending big.
Will Levy be prompted into action or will he get the PR department to spin the stadium debt and on-pitch austerity line?
Does the bald weirdo stick or twist?
True!
If we could get 20 matches a season out of him Poxy that’s about ten more than Tin Tin gives maximum effort
And through.
That’s how you see out a game when you’re in front
Modric a bit long in the tooth perhaps but Bale only 30. 30 is not really that old nowadays generally speaking, but with Bale we’re talking about a player who is somewhat injury prone and that’s something that isn’t likely to improve the wrong side of 30.
Poch would be so much more admirable if he didn’t talk so much S H I T, if his words are to be believed he’s so far ahead of his project he’s done the full ENIC circle without change of manager 5th to nearly there back to 5th again by the looks of it.
Credit to Poch and the team for most parts over the last 4 seasons. They went all out to win the league but should’ve started with a league or FA cup first..they believed in the project, believed in the stadium and believed in Poch. Alas they’ve had enough because there is no one at the top supporting them or breeding a winning mentality….they aint bloody stupid, shame a lot of Spurs fans are..
Ronaldo single handedly turns the tie around, three unanswered goals with a couple minutes left
Modric…no thanks, too old and Bale is damaged goods. If Bale played in the BPL you would be lucky to get 10 games a year out of him…Only ManU would go for such a luxury player now..
The ship for getting a luxury player has sailed, what we need is more like a trawler boat to reel in half a new squad..

Wasnt at all trying to call you out. I recently saw that story. Apparently in these days being a good footballer & a good person isnt mutually exclusive. Sad state of affairs

Absolutely right. What is the point of a DOF if any players likely to improve our squad is going to cost way over the budget that baldy has in mind. And why would he want to wait until the 11th.hour to try to conduct negotiations when Mr.Byright decides to enter the fray.
Why would anyone want to be dof at spurs under levy? It was clear that Mitchell couldn’t wait to get out. Any planned buying strategy of recruitment would be buggered up by Danny boys famous late interventions into the market by which time our targets would be probably be gone.
