Coronavirus Pandemic Set To Disrupt Spurs Games

By The Boy -

The Times (£) is running with a report that the Premier League is about to experience serious disruption, courtesy of the pandemic Coronavirus virus that has put the world in a healthcare spin.

The Government’s Cobra committee on Thursday morning is expected to move the UK’s emergency status for the coronavirus pandemic from the ‘contain’ to the ‘delay’.

Premier League games will not be postponed initially, rather played behind closed doors.

Interestingly, it is also suggested that ticket holders will be able to stream the games they’ve paid for, into their own homes.

Games ordinarily broadcast in pubs will be cancelled, in order to discourage large groups of people meeting in public.

What will trigger these initiatives? The Times suggests that once the number of citizens in the UK that are officially diagnosed as having Coronavirus hits 500, the sanctions will be rolled out. At time of publishing, the number is said to be c.460.

If you had met the elderly woman at the supermarket this week who handed me her empty trolley and was very worried that she not wiped the trolley handle clean, you would realise the fear in her mind was palpable. I just told her not to worry and took her trolley with ‘germ infested handle’ LOL.

Dybala and coutinho and fernandes were all touted to be pochs targets. Towards the end of the window poch suddenly turned.. Whoever they were he didnt get who he wanted. Nor players out like tintin….. I suspect poch would have liked lo celso, but not ndombele.. Neither would have been first choice.

Imagine everyone stopped working though. Everything would become chaos. No food, drink, police, doctors, army etc.. Post apocolyptic scenario.

postponing games may at least allow us to get our forwards back on the pitch 🙂

no – nail on head mate. Imagine dropping out of all 3 cups at first hurdles (or 2nd I suppose), being 8th in the league, and still hearing Jose talk about how he is the greatest with no plan in the summer.

I bet Kane will go, and we will spend almost to the penny what we sell him for.

lol – clubs would prefer postponed…closed doors is a punishment to many clubs.

‘Postpone’ until the bank balances are affected and then the doors will swing wide open. LOL

I think there are just certain journalists who are tight with the club and they get that way by acting as the club’s mouthpiece and spreading only the positive. Or at least a heavily biased positive version of events. Fans always need to be told ‘it will be better next year’ if things aren’t going well to keep season ticket interest up. Or maybe I’m just getting more cynical as i get older!

Postpone all the games until end April, that would work great for us. 🙏

very true – but I never heard that they had a short list that both agreed on…perhaps they did, but come the end of summer all was forgotten.

Didn’t we also hear all this stuff when Poch was there though? Not about Kane staying or going but that there were targets in mind and plans being made. The problem is, everything inevitably ends up just that bit too expensive for Levy so he waits until the last minute or buys a cheaper alternative.

Will be 500 today. I was hoping we would suspend a few games. Perhaps until end of April (6 games for us) 50% of which are against teams competing for top 4/5 and one against West Ham. Either way, would allow our players to re-couporate, give Jose some time to work on the team (no more excuses then). I think football behind closed doors, add to that Jose boring football and you are talking 0 atmosphere football. Who would want to watch that.

Heard a rumour that Levy and Jose have already got together and chosen targets for summer- and planned for both Kane staying and going!! WTF!! if that is true, why did Poch never get afforded that luxury?
