“Conte’s spoken to him twice” Allegation made on a podcast about one Spurs ace

By The Boy -

There will be a number of situations coming to a head at Tottenham over the coming months, it feels inevitable. The club has far too many players who have failed to forge a path for themselves under any recent coaches, and as the phrase says, push will come to shove

First out of the traps could be Steven Bergwijn, according to Mike Verweij on the Voetbalpodcast Kick-off.

Mike believes that Ajax is interested in resigning Bergwijn – and that the new Spurs gaffer has made no effort to involve the kid, since his arrival in N17.

“Conte has only said two words to Bergwijn in two weeks at Tottenham Hotspur. That’s why Ajax can consider him, but first Ajax will have to sell [David] Neres.”

Nothing against Lucas, but he can be a bit of a headless chicken. I think many of us see greatness in him when he charges past three players, but then he loses the ball, and it’s immediate disappointment.

His numbers are also quite poor, if he’s supposed to be one of the three main goalscorers/providers in the team. 8 PL goals and 9 assists in the last 76 games is pretty substandard, to be fair. Bale scored 11 in 20 last season (mostly against dross, but Lucas plays against dross as well).

I just feel he could do more with his skillset. Can’t fault his application though.

Surprised the Dier moment wasn’t the one when he ran into the stands to harass a fan because of an altercation with Dier’s brother, who started it. Or the one when he did his best to concede a penalty while on the floor against Chelsea at home, and succeeded. Or…we could go on.

Sanchez has had lots of mares, but the Mura showing is one I won’t forget anytime soon.

Sorry about Bergwijn, as I thought he was close to making it. Not good enough, unfortunately.

Which is why criticism of Lucas this season annoys me, arguably he’s been our best player, certainly attacking wise, and he cost a mere £20m.

Spot on. For every Berbatov, Modric, Bale we manage to get, there were 10 others players just not good enough. Levy’s record on signings just stinks.

Seems a shame that our glorious club so consistently targets players who aren’t good enough, but who then get slated for being crap. The list of those who’ve failed during the past two decades is so shockingly long it almost looks like some sort of weird secret policy.

If we get a player who doesn’t possess the skills required, that’s not his fault. If we get a player who has an attitude problem, ie: isn’t very serious about his footballing ambitions – he at least mirrors the club which bought him.

Moments in games have defined a player for me and it is hard to win you back (like a mate from work who came home to find his wife spreadeagled with the neighbour – they lasted a few years but are now apart).
Anyway true story apart I digress:-

Dier – the girly attempt to jump against Calvin-Lewis, fortunately there are photos of the exact moment and he shudders like a weed as he turns his back, in the 0-1 game.

Sanchez – once again there are stills of this – the home game with Palarse where for their corner he wanders to the edge of the box to mark the invisible man.

Wee Stevie – the sitter at Liverwhinge – is burnt into my memory.

Goodbye you 3 it was almost no fun knowing you.

Hopefully we will get replacements in with heart, brains & skill.

I think that sums up what you 3 havent got.
