Confirmed – Tottenham youngster completes transfer move to Germany

By Bruce Grove -

Spurs have agreed to send Ryan Sessegnon on loan to Hoffenheim this summer, the club has confirmed.

The 20-year-old needed to leave the Tottenham Stadium for more playing time after seeing Spurs bring in more competition for him to contend with.

The young Englishman played just 12 times in all competitions for Spurs last season and isn’t a part of Jose Mourinho plans in the short term.

The Special One is keen to win a trophy for the Lilywhites this season and has an abundance of talent down the left side..

Spurs landed both Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale from Real Madrid in this transfer window and they would have played ahead of Sessegnon if he had stayed.

He had several suitors including PSG and Barcelona, Celtic was also keen to land him on loan, but Spurs believe that a move to Hoffenheim will serve him better and they have allowed him to join the German side.

He is expected to feature heavily for the small-town German club in the domestic competitions and the Europa League.

Spurs believe that he will eventually become a top player so they never considered adding the option of a permanent transfer.

As we have nine if Clarke gets loaned out today all eight can make the cut.

Davies counts as homegrown for Premier League but not UEFA. Under 21s can be any nationality. You don’t have to have eight, it just means you can have a bigger squad up to the cap figure of 25, if we have just six that means with the 17 non home grown our squad is capped at 23.

He’ll do well, talented, just needs his confidence restored. German clubs seem to have discovered how to bring young players on.

Maybe it’s simply that German clubs play them and Premier League clubs don’t or give up on them if there is a dip in form.
