Concerning video footage has emerged from Spurs’ recent U23s game

By The Boy -

Spurs hosted Blackburn Rovers in a U23 game last Monday evening. THFC gave all Spurs’ Season Ticket Holders and One Hotspur Members free tickets.

The tie between the two Division One sides finished in a draw, with both teams getting a goal apiece. Footage has emerged of ‘afters’ on the pitch between various players from both sides.

What beggars belief, is that these youngsters are were incapable of keeping their heads in a game being watched by so many. It smacks of complacency and the sort of arrogance that – if not nipped in the bud – could well produce bad senior players.

Kallum Cesay’s behaviour was extraordinary.

Players can be issued a red card after the game has finished and they are within the boundaries of the pitch. If not, the ref can submit a misconduct report which can lead to sanctions such as fines and bans. Just because the game ends it’s not a license to have a pop without consequences. The phrase “restorative justice” is meaningless when you get banned for 3 to 6 matches and your team suffers as a result. What good was it then??

That’s just dumb thinking. PASSION is fine, aggression will get you what to the player got, a red card. It is also likely that the referee will submit a misconduct report which could lead to further sanctions. How does that benefit the team, the player or the club?? Other teams will see that and think they can get into that player’s head as well. Part of being a professional footballer is just that, being professional.

I disagree. One of the things I was most proud of, when Spurs drew 2-2 in the battle of the Bridge, was the fact that the Spurs players didn’t collapse, in floods of tears, in the middle of the pitch, like Liverpool’s pansies at Palace a couple of seasons before, but instead went down fighting.

I don’t like all this nonsense about aggression involving men. Aggression is unpleasant and negative but it is a normal human emotion which often occurs when people are under pressure of one sort or another. Different people have different tolerance levels before losing their temper or defending themselves for whatever reason. Sledging in sport is common. It has nothing to do with where you live or were brought up.

Aggression also manifests itself in every other walk of life involving people from different types of backgrounds. The kid expressed some anger. Big deal.

Personally; I love a bit of this in professional sport. After the final whistle shows a bit of wisdom. During the game leads to the team being disadvantaged. Someone will be along shortly to point out that he will get banned etc etc. Nice guys don’t win. I approve of a bit of restorative justice and without knowing what this particular spat was actually about it is premature to jump to conclusions regarding blame and character.

Anyone remember Francis Lee and Norman Hunter? Bowyer and Dyer? Comedy gold.

Maybe one of the Blackburn youth used a racial slur.. Pretty common with white youth from Blackburn a town often linked with far right movements.

Well look at some of these individuals behaviour! They behave like this when they have such a big opportunity ahead of them.

Difficult to know what happened exactly based purely on this short clip, but the Blackburn lad who got a red seemed to be on the receiving end of an attack from TWO Spurs players, and their behaviour was not good enough whichever way you look at it.

What a utterly ignorant thing to say.

Some of these young players are probably locals who, if not playing football, would be the type of youths who’s criminal ways plague areas like Tottenham.
