Brendan Rodger’s post-match comments don’t quite match with reality

By The Boy -

The Foxes’ gaffer was understandably feeling robbed, it looked as if his boys were heading towards a 2-1 victory. However, Leicester City buckled to some classy invention from Tottenham, who deserve credit for fighting to the death. It was this character that Leicester City lacked.

Sky Sports

Rodgers’ line about we gift-wrapped the Tottenham goals is wishful, thinking. Tottenham didn’t fluke a win, in fact, we had the highest expected goal ratio of any Premier League side this season so far.

Leicester City had 12 shots on goal, of which only 4 were on target.

Whereas, Spurs had 25 shots, and 10 of those were on target. Perhaps Brendan became distracted, listening to his supporters singing ‘Tottenham get battered, everywhere they go”, opposed to actually watching the game

Tottenham possession

Spurs’ passing accuracy was marginally superior, and the visitors also edged possession, 54.43% to 45.57%.

Leicester possession

Looking at City’s possession, it would be more accurate to say that the Foxes had a compelling half-hour or so, and then went slowly but surely off the boil.

Auntie Wenger is in the house! You Gooners ought to be very afraid now we have the best manager in the world. Already above you with games in hand. And look at all the money you spent in the summer.

Brendan is good but he’s not that good, like Arteta, someone needs to tell him this… like to his face. 😂

Not that it matters to us but the whole footballing world outside of London says it was a deserved victory albeit ground out in a peculiar fashion.

& he has stated he knows the job he has to do is more than 2 or 3 transfer windows & also he will be honouring his current contract.

We were missing Son, Dier and Romero. So when was Leicester’s last CL final and how many trophies have they won before the 90’s? Oh they’re like 3 pin plugs they don’t work in Europe do they. Spurs have won 3 European trophies…

You’d think an investment company would understand the term “investment” wouldn’t you? Levy is utterly useless at what he does. He hasn’t even learnt a lesson yet from the Grealish debacle.

Liverpool in now for Traore apparently after Poundland Levys latest low ball offer attempt to pretend he is backing Conte. As the tick-tock of yet another barren transfer window mercilessly marches on the reality that nothing has changed behind the scenes with ENIC and Levy becomes ever more apparent. The same old PR spin of signing a new contract extension with an existing player is heralded as a sign of intent to back the manager. Once again Levy appears to be pulling the strings and Paratici’s in particular as all energies seem to be on offloading players first to release funds to then spend on making offers for new players which as always means we will run out of time and miss out on signing anyone probably. The missing word in all of this is “investment”. Investment is new money put into the “football team” as an indication of ambition for success on the football pitch. Selling players to buy players is not investment and is not ambition.

A Leicester team without Evans, Vardy, Fofana, Castagne, Ricardo, Ndidi and Iheanacho – most of which walk into the Spurs team. Leicester have 2 league Cups, a Prem League title and an FA Cup since the 90’s. Remind everyone how many trophies Spursy have attained in that period. Oh wait. Lol..

Completely agree, the difficulty for those like ourselves who are outside of the Enic bubble and the business acumen they follow, is why they cannot put a fair share of their obvious desire for financial gain back into the football club, which must surely offer even more profit if successful on the pitch, imo.

Deluded Brendon is just trying to ease his pain after watching his Leicester side go all Spursy in the dying minutes of the game. We’ve been there dine that numerous times hence the name Spursy.

Well Brendon, your side was second best for 99% of that game. Spurs defenders gifted you two goals against the run of play. Leicester are back where they belong in mid table mediocrity. The leagues better off for it too just to hear you whine with the deluded outpourings often attributed to you.

I don’t think there is any doubting Conte and his man management and general professionalism. The big doubt remains about whether the onwer and levy in particular is prepared to back him in the transfer market.

Conte has made several subtle comments about the need to improve the squad, but Levy is so full of his own self importance that it probably goes over his head.If we lose Conte because of his intransigence then there is no way back.Nobody will touch him with a barge pole.Surely he in his thick skin must realise this.

Having listened to Conte’s post match comments to the various media outlets, one comment kept coming out which I think is significant were the words “My players”, I don’t recall hearing that before myself, however I believe that to be a huge boost in the confidence for the squad as a whole.
Players being referred to in such a way is important and shows the connection between them and the manager is strong and that is a good sign.
