Well done to all that participated in the mindless hate-fest against Steven Bergwijn since the full-time whistle blew at Anfield. As we glimpsed at yesterday, some fans took it upon themselves to unload on Bergwijn over his performance against Liverpool. Some of the abuse was so bad, that one comment on Twitter was flagged to the Metropolitan Police. Last night, Steven decided to limit his Instagram account, although if anyone remains determined to cause upset, the boy’s Twitter account remains open.
Now, I would describe myself non-pc, I’m the sort of unhinged individual that understood that Eddie Booth was a serial loser and Bill Reynolds came out of every single episode of Love Thy Neighbour as the better man. An opinion shared incidentally by Rudolph Walker who played Bill. However, after watching the Liverpool game, and then trawling into the stats, I can only conclude that those piling on Steven are subconsciously racist. I never thought I’d make that sort of claim, but it’s difficult to find another coherent explanation. Bergwijn is a decent kid, and this needs to stop before it really gets out of hand.

Bergy. No pay dem pu$$yholes any mind. Just carry on wid your runnings son.
For goodness sake, what’s wrong with people. It was small margins, his shot hit the post, which was closer than Harry kane’s header from point blank range, yet nobody in their right mind would abuse Harry would they. Stevie is part of an amazing squad, who could very well win some stuff this season, people need to get a grip..
The Morons who attack players on Social Media , in this way , are a throw back to the type of Moron who threw bananas at Coloured Players and Mars Bars at Gazza.
There are some comments on websites about a variety of subjects that expose individuals in such a way I just cannot relate to. I wanted to respond to the previous piece about Bergwijn but I stopped myself because I did not know how to,due to the level of hatred within them. These people who react in such ways have problems I cannot begin to understand, I myself stay clear of certain websites because of that. In fact I even avoid talksh1te because of their ridiculous interpretations from some of their presenters on the game we all love, which sadly so many ‘fans’ blindly follow.
I don’t do social media at all and have never done so, so I have complete contempt for people who post this sort of rubbish. I find it hard to believe that it is inherently racist as Eric Dier and Ben Davies come in for a fair amount of stick as well, but he strikes me as a real trier who is just missing a clinical finish and a defence splitting pass which will hopefully come in time. I am more concerned with the non appearances of Bale and Vinicius , both loan players who get little game time.
The only thing he is guilty of is being less clinical than Son and Kane – but on current form, that’s probably true for most of the world’s players. I don’t think Moura or Lamela would have done better in his situation.
I can’t get my head around this. Stevie seems like one of the nicest guys in the squad, a young guy who’s doing his best, and to shower him with abuse after such a game is incomprehensibly stupid.

damn, miss the edit button!
He hasn’t had the greatest of seasons, but he’s got himself back into the starting 11 with his hard work rate…he’s rusty, hopefully with more game time it works out.
The problem we have is only Kane & Son know where the back of the net is so we need the likes go Stevey B to chip in with some goals…
There must be a stat? 5% of the most hateful stupidest people shout the loudest and get 95% of the coverage….bit like Antifa
