One of the first fixtures that Spurs fans look for when the season’s schedule is announced is the two matches against Arsenal.
You see, the North London derby can make or break a season, especially for Tottenham when silverware has been scarce but even that little bit of glory is on the verge of being taken away from us.
Tottenham have moved so far ahead of Arsenal in almost every aspect that at some point we will be accused of being bullies, there are only so many beatings that can be handed out before it becomes cruelty.
Obviously, the headline is a bit of banter, however, Arsenal are now in a relegation fight, that is being serious and there will soon come a point where Spurs fans will start to look at alternative fixtures if that lot continue on their downward trajectory.
Billionaire play things Chelsea are fast becoming a more attractive opponent, at least they are prepared to stand toe to toe with us but sadly, they are a West London outfit, as are Fulham and Brentford.
West Ham are East London, Palace are South London and so on, what we need is a North London opponent that is competitive, one that we can respect and fear and unfortunately, that is no longer the case anymore.
We may have to wait for the likes of Barnet and Enfield Town to make their way up the Pyramid to bring back the magic of a competitive North London derby.
