Metz president Bernard Serin has confirmed that his club is in advanced talks with Tottenham to sell Pape Sarr to the Lilywhites.
Tottenham has identified the 18-year-old as a youngster that has to be on their books after his stunning start to life in France.
He has been in fine form since he broke into the Metz senior squad last season and he has more clubs looking to sign him.
Tottenham has seen off competition from his other suitors to close in on making him one of their summer signings, according to The Daily Mail.
The report claims that he is expected to sign a six-year deal at Tottenham before returning to Metz, where he will play on loan for the rest of this season.
It remains unclear how long he will be on loan back at Metz, but he would struggle to play if he makes the move to north London immediately.
‘We are in advanced talks with Tottenham for Sarr, yes, but it is not done yet. The final fee will be higher than €10m (£8.6m).’ Serin said via the report yesterday.
Spurs will hope spending one more season away with regular football will help prepare Sarr to contribute to the team from next season.
