Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the North London club and he needs to move on in search of regular playing time. He has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce where former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is looking to sign him.
According to a report from the Turkish publication Karar, Fenerbahce board member Acun Ilıcalı travelled to England in order to hold talks for the 28-year-old Danish international. The Turkish outfit have ‘started negotiations’ with Tottenham officials and it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done quickly.
The 28-year-old was a key player for Tottenham before the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and he could be a superb acquisition for the Turkish outfit.
Mourinho is looking to put together a quality squad at Fenerbahce and signing a proven performer like Hojbjerg would be a wise decision. He could be available for a reasonable price as well. He is no longer a valued first-team member for the Londoners and they could look to cut their losses on him if a suitable offer is presented.
The player needs a fresh start as well and a move to Turkey could be an interesting one for him. He has been linked with other European clubs as well, and it will be interesting to see if the other suitors decide to step up their effort to sign the player.
The 28-year-old is very much at the peak of his powers and he will look to make an instant impact in Turkish if the move goes through.
