Club fear 23-year-old Tottenham-linked star might have played his last game for them

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi during the January transfer window.

However, the Eagles refused to sell the central defender midway through the season. He has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the Premier League and a number of top clubs are keeping tabs on him.

The 23-year-old could easily be on the move at the end of the season. A report from Give Me Sport claims that Crystal Palace fear the defender might have played his last game for them. The defender is currently recovering from a knee injury and he will be hoping to get back to his best before Euro 2024.

It seems unlikely that the former Chelsea defender will be sold before the Euros and Crystal Palace will probably hope that he manages to impress during the international tournament so that they can demand the premium for him.

Manchester United and Newcastle United were keen on signing the defender in January as well. It will be interesting to see if all three clubs decide to resurrect their interest in the player at the end of the season.

Spurs could use another quality central defender to complete their defensive unit. Guehi is well settled in the Premier League and could improve them instantly. The 23-year-old will look to compete at the highest level and Tottenham are well placed to secure Champions League qualification. Joining them would also mean that he can continue living in London.
