Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a permanent move for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet.

The French center-back was signed on loan by Tottenham as a stop-gap measure after the club failed to sign any of its main targets.

However, he has seemed to impress the club with his performances who now want to sign him on a permanent basis.

And despite yesterday’s update from Gerard Romero that stated that the status of the deal is unclear,  the latest update from Sport claims that Tottenham have been happy with Lenglet’s loan spell and ‘want to keep’ him.

The report further says that Spurs are ‘willing to pay a reasonable price’  for the centre-back which is expected to be around the region of €12m.

Sporting director Mateu Alemany is set to leave Barcelona and is set to take the role at Aston Villa. But before leaving his role he is supposed to wind up the operations at Barcelona which includes sorting out the future of Clément Lenglet.

Barcona are not interested in keeping him as they look to free up their wage bill ahead of the summer.

Although Lenglet has also been linked with a move to Inter, reports suggest that the player himself prefers to stay in London with Spurs.

Tottenham have had a difficult season defensively and is likely to be looking to address the situation in the upcoming transfer window.

Earlier in the season, they were linked with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Stefan de Vrij, and Piero Hincapie as potential options.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be able to secure the services of Lenglet permanently, but it is clear that the club is keen to keep him.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, fans will be hoping that the club can make the necessary signings to improve their defence and mount a serious
