Chris Sutton states Harry Kane’s performance is why Man City should’ve paid up for the striker

By Eddie Razo -

Manchester City was linked to Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane for the entire summer. But, in the end, they decided not to pay the asking price the north London club wanted for the England international.

In his column for the Daily Mail, Chris Sutton stated that Manchester City shouldn’t have hesitated to spend £150-million for Kane this past summer. The 28-year-old scored a brace, including the game-winning goal late in the second half during stoppage time.

“That’s what £150million buys you, Pep — two players in one, a nine and a 10,” Sutton wrote.

“This was Harry Kane at his match-winning best. He’s not had the greatest season. We all know that, and Kane does, too. But all top strikers go through a sticky patch at some stage in their careers.”

Manchester City has done well without a striker, but against Tottenham, Pep Guardiola’s squad got a first-hand look at what it’s like to have a world-class striker that can score goals in crucial situations.

The Citizens might not have any remorse in spending the cash to land Kane during the summer. However, if Manchester City falls short in the league and UEFA Champions League and the lack of a traditional striker is why they miss out on trophies, they’ll be kicking themselves.

It was a performance that absolutely screamed “Oi Pep, Look at what you missed out on”

Fair play to him, just shows what he can do when he’s motivated!

Kane has got better as a footballer. His initiating of counter attacks have been brilliant. One of the main reasons we beat City is because we had a player that was better than any of theirs on Saturday, and that was Kane. He looked a class above even De Bruyne.
