Carlos Vinícius’ Best Moments From Last Night: Plus Perhaps, An Unpopular Opinion On The Boy

By The Boy -

Carlos Vinícius Alves Morais is currently on loan at Spurs and the plan as I understood it, was to provide José Mourinho with a player to provide Harry Kane with some welcome respite.

Watching the boy, I am not filled with confidence at all. Let me be clear. I am not seeking to compare the 25-year-old with Kane himself, rather I am comparing him with his own contributions so far.

Total actions / successful
Duels / won

My primary concern is that Carlos has failed to snatch more than 17 minutes of Premier League time (against West Brom on 08.11.2020) and in the minutes he hasn’t quite looked like the prospect he might have. Royal Antwerp weren’t great, and I submit that had we been a third party scouting Vinícius, we may well have not been overwhelmed.

The above graphics do not bode well.

He is far too easily pushed off the ball(ever seen him win a header under pressure?) just like he pulls out of 50/50s and his ability to win back the ball is limited. Unless he improves , and I have my doubts there, his current good points are far too few to warrant a permanent transfer.

Seen glimpses od a good player but not enough yet . Need Jose to get a bit of see you next tuesday into him but if hes not a Jose pick then Jose might not be bothered?

Its hard to judge anything from those games where the starting 11 is made from the squad players.

Bale looks busted and should be looking sharper by now, thats more of a concern.

He offers something else than Kane does. Unlike Soldado, Llorente and Janssen, he is able to find a goal. He has amazing vision. He has physical ability. When he learns the language and starts feeling like he is a part of the family, he is gonna be awesome for us, i am sure

I’ve not been overly impressed. His feet are a bit slow. At the moment I cant see him starting if Kane gets injured

He’s still usually getting one start a week, pretty much the same as most teams in the Prem who aren’t in Europe.

He’s getting chances to play but needs to show more.

He can not cope with the physicality pf the PL and is far too “nice” to be a success here.

We looked to hit him really early, very direct, a lot of the time – looking for him to flick it on or control it.

He did that ok but looked a little uncomfortable with the role, it looked a bit of a lottery as to whether he’d produce something or not. I think he prefers ball into feet but then he’s not doing all that well there either.

Maybe a confidence player? When it came to finishing he looked less natural than when he arrived. Jury is out agreed.

I don’t feel I can meaningfully judge him unless he gets quite a bit more game time. If Kane has a few weeks out and Vin gets a proper run we’d see what he’s about. Looks at the minute like he’s there to plug a hole for the short term.
