“Can’t run anymore…can’t do anything’ – Big injury scare for Tottenham star during international duty

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham skipper Heung-min Son shined for South Korea in their 5-0 victory over Singapore in the World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

His standout moment came with a remarkable goal from outside the box as he cut in from the right to his left foot and fired in a shot which curled in to the top left corner.

However, a big injury scare arose for Spurs fans when he appeared to suffer an injury during the match. He was down for a considerable period, seemingly in a lot of pain.

The skipper addressed the injury concerns after the game confirming that he is ‘fine now’.

Son said (via Sungmo Lee):

“We are making a team for FIFA WC, I can’t give up a game just because I feel pain. If I can’t run anymore, then I can’t do anything about it but when I can run, I have to give 100% for the team.

“I am fine now, I don’t like to lie down (on the pitch) in the winter. At that moment (I went down) I couldn’t feel anything on my foot.

“It’s not only me, all players have small injuries but still play for the team.”

This will come a huge relief for Tottenham fans who have seen their squad dealing with an injury crisis at the moment. Particularly in the absence of creative force James Maddison, a potential injury to Son would have been a major setback.

Their upcoming league fixture against Aston Villa presents a tough challenge and Spurs will be hoping for an injury-free return from Son and their other internationals.
