Can Poch Beat Ajax At Their Own Game?

When you consider how hampered Poch has been, the Argentine’s mentality is the one thing that simply cannot be questioned.

“No-one believed we’d be in this position in the last week of the competition,” Pochettino told the press.

“We are in a position where it depends on us to be in the (Champions League) final or not and then it depends on us to finish in the top four.

“It’s a massive week and that’s why we need to move on, try to recover as soon as possible and be ready again but whatever happens I am going to feel proud.”

Can Pochettino’s emphatic belief spur Tottenham on to not just win tomorrow evening, but also beat a side that themselves produced a similar ‘miracle’ on order to overcome an identical away goal handicap.

Only one of the 17 previous teams to lose the first leg at home in a Champions League/European Cup semi-final tie has progressed to the final: it was Ajax in 1995-96, the Dutch team losing 1-0 at home against Panathinaikos before winning 3-0 away.

The worst thing about getting top 4 and at minimum a CL semi final?
They’ve gotten away with negligence/incompetence of the highest order.
The trophy hopes (miracle needed) rest on 2 huge performances now nothing to lose let’s hope they go all out for it.

You are absolutely right, in my below post I completely forgot about Alli. He needs to sort himself out, he’s had an awful season.

We only wish Sissoko could shoot. Liverpool game reconfirmed that.

Never fear, we have Llorente

Ali and Eriksen have all but disappeared. Kane looks to me to have a perennial ankle injury that will keep coming back unless cover is provided. Llorente has the mobility of a tree ent. Moura appears fall over a lot. Dier would not have got in our Sunday league team. Trippier and Davies would not have got in either. Toby is away next season. Verts looked to be injured before he got injured. Lamela was last seen in Columbia testing his latest batch. Wanyama is a doppleganger. Winks has the Kane injury syndrome from over use. Lloris has never been seen since his incident with his car. Son has decided to enlist. Sissoko is our only hope !!!!!!!!!!!! How can I possibly be even saying that. He is going to score the wining goal in the 94th minute with a 35 yard screamer that bounces off the roof of the stadium hits both corner flags and slowly trickles into an empty net whilst the entire stadium watches in silent slow motion. Pooch has hired a mini van to visit Manchester in the summer. So good to see we have finally arrived with the world class training ground, stadium, CL semi final and ENICs vision of a philanthropic local social care programme….

Son has had a nice rest so maybe he will play like he did against Man City. If ever we needed an incredible performance from him, and everyone else, it’s now.
No ridiculous and unnecessary passing back from everyone. No giving the ball away by Wanyama, Sissoko and Moura. No constant hoofing up field and giving the ball straight to the opposition from Lloris. No standing there scratching his head and wondering what’s going on from Trippier and some effort at being the player we know he has been from Eriksen and maybe we could do it?

Does Son get a 3 match suspension for violent conduct, and does that carry forward to next season?

I can’t see where the goals will come from.

Ajax aren’t great, but neither are they stupid.

5 games and we have scored 1 goal.
That’s embarrassing, our blushes are only saved because our league horror is on a par with the dross the other ‘top’ temas are spewing out.

We can beat Ajax, but it’s going to take a monumental effort from front to back. The realist in me thinks score draw, the football fan in me says 3-1 Spurs. Llorente with the decisive goal
