Calciomercato: One Of Paratici’s First Tottenham Targets Revealed

By The Boy -

Fabio Paratici is rumoured to begin his new career as Tottenham Hotspur’s Director of Football and perhaps once he’s finished helping Daniel Levy source a first-team coach, the name of Leonardo Bonucci is said to be on the 48-year-old’s radar.

The only problem with this rumour from Calciomercato is that Leonardo was 34 last month and to be frank this looks like a rumour more designed for the convenience of shunting the old boy out for a twilight season or two in London. Spurs already have one defender over 30 and really do not need any more.

Bonucci isn’t a terrible player by any stretch of the imagination, it just that this would not even step sideways but a notable one backwards. Tottenham’s backline needs a major revamp, and throwing a 34-year-old into the equation would only serve to confuse matters.

What really concerns me at this stage is that any names are being suggested when there is no manager in place – this is a path that leads to another sacking.

Thanks Harry H. for the enlightening brief today. As you mentioned Aidan Mullally, Spurs Head of Business Development. has already stated that the NFL is the priority and the reason the stadium was built. Obviously they did not do their homework thoroughly. The NFL will only throw them a few crumbs each season to promote their overseas aspirations. They are not about to send their cash cow overseas for more than a game or two. Revenues from NFL games in the USA far exceed the majority of revenues generated by Premier League clubs. To even think, as he mentioned, to one day host The Super Bowl is absolute stupidity. It is one of, if not THE$ premier sporting event in the USA generating millions in revenues. Extremely unlikely to ever occur. Again Levy and Co. are betting on the wrong horse. They obviously care little about Tottenham or it’s supporters. To make our voice heard we need to hit them in the pocket significantly and then maybe, just maybe, they may get the message.

Absolutely. He will have to answer to Levy before any deals are finalised. If he’s as good as people say,he shouldn’t put up with that for too long.

If others want community tickets, then perhaps they could/should start doing things for their community? Lol

Indeed.. Thiago Silva is 36 now and just signed a years extension after a good season for them.

Obviously Matty de Ligt would be better, but Bonucci is an immediate upgrade on the likes of Dier and Sanchez.. Any world class player who wants to wear the shirt should be snapped up, especially if on a free or a good price.. Age is just a number, just ask Teddy Sheringham.

Everybody is giving this guy stick because of his age…but hes a winner..didn’t Chelsea bring a 34 year old centre back in..and they usually know what there doing.

Baldini and Hitchen and co have never been top grade.. It’s all about getting the right man. I wanted Luis Campos, but Paratici is a top director, he knows his football.

We’ve had three DOF’s under Levy before. What have we won in that 22 years? Seen all this before…

It’s a joke. The club needs Levy sacking and a quality manager to be backed and left alone. Rocket science it ain’t. It’s all smoke and mirrors and midiraction spin with ENIC.

It’ll be like when Boro got Strachan and they ended up with 10 Scottish players.

“Levy needs to stay away from the football side of things everyone was saying. (And rightly so) levy takes heed and brings a DOF in and people are moaning. This fella did fine work at the old lady. Brilliant work I think

Absolute mess. Replace our aging backline with……a 34 year old!!?
Genius this fella, glad he’s on board.
Levys retail extravaganza is all systems NO….as the most predictable occurrence in history, the “delaying” of lifting restrictions have been announced. ‘just another 2 weeks….maybe a month…’

Yeah pull the other one nobby its gone bells on. Remember 2 weeks to flatten the curve?? Indian government have vehemently denied an Indian variant exists and are quite livid, meanwhile in Ukraine they’re all being scared and conned by a British variant?! See how it works. That’s why they dont want us travelling.

Conte, Freedom day….Alien invasion….keep believing and it keeps coming.

Gedson, vinicius and Doherty were Jose pics were they? I’m not sure about that. Infection I’m pretty sure that at least Gedson was nit because he joined before Jose didn’t he? Sounds like some Jose proven winner but I don’t like him bashing to me….

And Italian clubs utilise a lot of Italian players. We don’t see many Italians in the prem

If all Paratici knows is Italy then we are already in trouble. I have no idea about Juventus but I am always suspicious of managers or DoFs who use a crony network rather than do their real job. best example is Jose as Doherty, Gedson and Vinicius were all from his crony agent and it showed as they were trash.
I personally would go over the championship with a fine tooth comb and grab as many decent 20-23yos with potential as I could and shunt out the dead wood even at a loss to get them off the books as we virtually need a new midfield and a new defence.

The appointment of Paratici for me, is a preparation for Levy being able to feasibly hire a younger inexperienced “Head Coach” such as a Potter or a Parker and dress it up as a “management team” situation.

Totally agree. Levy believes we are all mugs. He has sussed that people are on to him and likely thinks this appointment appeases everyone

So we bro g in a 34 year old that has never played in the Premiership before yet we couldn’t agree a contract extension for Jan, who is exactly the same age and proven?

You couldn’t make this sh*t up any better…

Thats why I wanted the guy in France who has gone to Madrid.
Supposed to be given a budget say e50m and then he finds a couple of frees and a couple of lows around e20m each and they work out well. Mind you as somebody said Levy has history for changing deals at the last minute.

I really want to get excited by the appointment of Paratici but I’m struggling to see how this will work out any differently to Commoli or Baldini or indeed ‘Mitch’. All of those guys were supposed to bring us Europe’s finest and they were all either handcuffed, failures or sacked.

This position is no more than a buffer to pretend to fans that levy isn’t involved in transfers. Whoever they scout, the players club will inevitably end up on the phone to cue ball who in turn will bungle the deal somehow.
